help! shoes first or dress fitting first?

yes2011, 15 July, 2011 at 10:59 Posted on Planning 0 2

Hi all,

I have a very lacy dress for which I have a fitting next week. It needs to be taken in as you can see in the picture (mirror). My problem is with the length: I haven't bought shoes yet because the seamstress had said that it's hard to cut the lace at the bottom. So I thought I will need to buy shoes that fit the length of the dress. Now I'm afraid that I'll go to the fitting without shoes... And I haven't had a chance to check the actual length of the dress. Plus I don't know where to buy shoes with a good return policy in case they are to low/high. Should I just go somewhere and buy 5 random pairs of shoes whatever color just to check the height?

Any ideas please?

THANK YOU!

I would think she would struggle to do your fitting without you being in your shoes. Not only because of the length but because you stand differently in heels etc etc.

I'd give the seamstress a call and confirm whether you need them.

What about trying platform shoes with a high heel? They are quite comfy even though they are high. My dress is very long but I don't want it taken up as it would spoil the style. I'm going to wear 5 inch heels with a large platform sole so that it makes the dress the perfect length.

Would the shop not have shoes for you to try with the dress? With you mentioning a seamstress I don't know if you went to a standard bridal shop but Berketex had a random selection for me to get an idea. Alternatively find someone with the same size feet as you and between you I'm sure you can get a great selection for testing ?
