Help - songs for DVD

ashmegdj, 17 July, 2009 at 08:10 Posted on Planning 0 19

I won't be around today but I need some inspiration for the songs to go on our DVD. I need 4 in total. A slow lovey dovey one for the beginning, then a slightly more upbeat one. Then another slushy one (I think) and then the party one. My mind has gone completely blank so any help would be great.

The first one could be our first dance - but as we haven't 100% decided on that then still need ideas.

I'll check back later. TIA

I agree Elbow's track is a winner for weddings - especially montage sequences.

Another vote for Elbow here, we had it played before our ceremony.

In fact ebee, we had a few of your suggestions on our ceremony cd. Good taste ?

Another few suggestions - Take That - Greatest Day,

Someone like you - Van Morrison

Take That - I'd wait for life

We didn't choose the songs for our DVD. Our videographer used songs we'd played before and during the ceremony. So we have:

    • The Ramones - Baby, I Love You
    • Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars
    • Explosions in the Sky - Your Hand In Mine
    • The Beatles - In My Life
    • Jose Gonzalez - Heartbeats
    • Balcony Scene (from Romeo and Juliet soundtrack)

Usually for the video you would use 'clean' [CD/MP3] versions of the songs played on the day, though it's no problem to make music changes between the wedding day and the DVD if desired.

For morning preparations, outdoor segments and highlights we ask the couple to select additional music. Sometimes these are chosen from the track-list playing in the venue while guests arrive, or they could be entirely new tracks not heard at the wedding.

Heartbeats by Jose Gonzalez is a great choice.

    Unfortunately not!

Oooh, Iris by the Googoo Dolls, was one I wanted to have but forgot about in the lead up to the wedding. Another great song!

    Jason Mraz - I'm Yours

This song didn't even feature in our wedding, but our photographer has it playing on her website. Because we now associate it with our photos it's become an unofficial soundtrack to our day, to the point that H actually thought that we had had it at our wedding!

This was the song on our photo highlights slideshow on the photographers website. Got the mickey taken for the fact that it contains the line "I don't want the world to see me" when the pics were out there on the www for all the world to see! ?

Be Young Be Foolish Be Happy - The Tams.

    Happy Together - The Turtles.

All You Need is Love - The Beatles.

    Marry You - Bruno Mars.

    Champagne Supernova - Oasis.

    Wonderwall - Oasis.

    Something - The Beatles.

A Thousand Years - Christina Perri.

Loving You is Sweeter Than Ever - The Four Tops.

It's Wonderful to be Loved by You - Jimmy Ruffin.

I Can't Help Myself - The Four Tops.

(Your Love is Lifting Me) Higher and Higher - Jackie Wilson.

I know this is an old thread but really, Blowers Daughter? It's about Damien realising a girl he'd been talking to on the phone was a schoolgirl! "And so it is, he has

    The shorter story
    No love, no glory
    No hero in her sky

The shorter story No love, no glory No hero in her sky"

Last time I got married, a lot of people had High by Lighthouse Family - a song about things being rubbish at the moment! ?

Oo I love Green Days Time of Your Life...

I know what you mean about some of the songs being a little inappropriate, I have been very conscious of the lyrics and meanings of songs - I'm still struggling with the last 2 songs though so if anyone has any more, I'm all ears!! Smiley smile

    Thank you!!
