Help! What to send to Oz?!

BonnieLass, 14 June, 2009 at 22:09 Posted on Planning 0 4

Hi!

Basically my sister who lives in Oz is getting married at the start of July, without any family there, unfortunately.

Myself & my mum are trying to think of ideas of what we could send her for her wedding day, nice little things for her - not the actual wedding present.

Can I get some ideas of old, new, borrowed etc & other things? We really want to make as much of a fuss as possible

TIA x

What about a special photo in a very light frame - maybe a family one of you as kids (thats the old and new together).

Is there any music that is special in your family? If so maybe a recording of that.

Miniature pampering products, jewellery (maybe engraved depending on what it is), a fancy garter.

HTH will post more if I think of them.

I don't know if it's of any help, but on my hen night, all my friends had written on a piece of A4 card, or decorated it with photos and memories etcetc. it was lovely, and i had some lovely lovely messages written (especially from my mum - made me weep!)

you could get her friends to do something similar and send it to her?

Hi, sorry that you are not going to the wedding!!, I went to oz in 2003 to see my brother get married, he is is now the father of a one year old who ( Charlotte) I have never seen ( sob sob!!) as I can't afford to go out there again yet!! and his wife has just discovered she is pregnant again my sister didn't come out to the wedding but sent lots of things that she had bought, which we took with us, a me to you bride and groom which they still treasure, lots of pictures of family and friends some jewellery for the bride to borrow, it must be diificult for your sister, my sister in law had to buy her dress by herself as none of the family were able to go out until the wedding, why not make a Dvd, most of the equipment in Oz is the same so she can play it and think of you all.

It's horrible having such a big distance between close family isn't it. I have a nephew who is 2& a half, I guess I'm quite lucky (though it doesn't always feel like that) in that I have seen him twice. If it wasn't so expensive I'd be there at every opportunity. My sister has a really good friend that she took dress shopping, i'm so glad she didn't go alone coz I've loved having my mum help me. It was a bit of a surprise about the wedding coz it was only organised a few weeks ago, but they're doing it the way they want & I guess that's the main thing. You've some brill ideas for pressies, I'm guna write them all down & then pick with my mum. Thank you!!?
