Help! Which wedding dress? Votes please...

swim_bride, 13 September, 2012 at 15:10 Posted on Planning 0 28

I can't decide between these two dresses. Don't have photos of me in them but I am a tall size 8, fair skin, very dark brown hair.

Pros and cons of each (as I see them) written below.

San Patrick - rumour

Pros: Love how slinky and fitted it is. I think it's quite sexy and flattering.

Cons: Don't like all the ruffles on the back- think its too much (the seamstress says she can remove some/ all of them); not too keen on the shiny material; the ivory colour doesn't suit me as much as white.

Blue by Enzoani - Champagne

Pros: The white one suits my colouring. I love lace. Cons: Its a bit heavier so not as comfortable; is it as sexy/ flattering?

I love the second one......think lace dresses look amazing! (albeit very heavy!)

I vote the second one!! It's stunning! The way you describe yourself I think it will definitely be flattering!

I dont think the first one looks that much like a wedding dress really, more of a sexy dress

Second one. Not only do I prefer it, to me the wedding day isn't about being 'sexy'.

I agree. Also, if you can think of cons for both, you don't have to go for either.

Second one!! I think the first one looks a bit like a long negligee (sorry can't spell it - I mean a sexy nightie!) I absolutely love lace, I think it's the perfect bridal material and when a dress is fitted to you properly then it shouldn't feel too heavy because it will be fitted to your shape so won't pull.

And I'm afraid I'm with Kharv...not sure a wedding look should be overly sexy. Beautiful, stunning, elegant..but not sexy.

I also prefer the second one as the first one is a bit too "sexy", however I also agree that if you don't really love either then you need to keep looking.

The second one is just stunning - but I am biased as it's very similar to my dress.

The first dress is gorgeous but not as 'bridal' Smiley smile

    The second one!

One of our brides last week had this dress, which was customised with a belt to match her colour scheme.

    It's a beautiful, flattering dress.

Even my male partner, who's not typically one to notice much about a dress couldnt stop complimenting it.

    Wow, a unanimous response.

Two more votes for number two from my work mates.

I do really like them both. I think I'm the kind of person who would never be 100% sure about anything though. I'm pretty sure I could spend the rest of my life wedding dress shopping and never say "oh my God, this is the one" or "I look amazing"! My mum did say that about number 2 (she hasn't seen number 1) so that's probably good enough.

I guess it depends on the style of your wedding, I personally prefer the lace one. As a side note, I also wouldn't wear the first one myself as I had a church wedding and 'sexy' wouldn't have been appropriate, I wanted to be remembered for being beautiful rather than sexy, but that's just me.

    Second one definatly.

You say your slim and the second one will show of your figure better and is bridal. Oh yeah, and i'm sorry but I don't like brides being SEXY on there wedding day. Beautiful, stunning, virginal and bridal yes.

Controversially i like the first though I like the ruffles, if your removing then the second.

Though if your not sure have you looked a lot, maybe there is another?

    Have you tried them on?

The top one would be my vote but you will have to have a perfect body as it will show every single lump and bump and you wont be able to wear any pants or a garter as it will show through the dress, your only underwear option would be an all in one body shaper to give you the right contours - which will be just as heavy an uncomfortable as the lace.

Number 2, no question. I don't really like number 1 as a wedding dress. You should try them both on again and take a pic, be sneaky if you have to, and flash them. Then we can tell you which we think suits you better not just which we prefer.

I prefer the second dress. I think the dress looks strange in the first picture, it's got to be photoshopped - surely nobody is THAT long! Plus, is "sexy" the look you want for your weddimg day? I'd personally prefer to save that for the evening/honeymoon and go for a more bridal look for the big day. I'm also a sucker for lace!

I absolutely LOVE the first one! WOW! I am having a slim fitting dress as well, especially if you are tall and athletic, it will look incredible. I don't really think it's that 'sexy' - just different to most wedding dresses. Let us know what you decide!

I vote number 2. But I'm biased because I love lace. I think the first one is a bit too sexy for a wedding.

Second one. I agree with the "sexy" comments, and when looking for a beach wedding dress, I found lots of slinky chiffon dresses that, to be honest, looked more like evening gowns or long silk nighties of the sort worn by 1940s Hollywood starlets. Great as an Oscar dress, not so appropriate for a wedding dress. Then again, I am an old fashioned prude who insisted on sleeves making for my dress since I refused to be bare shouldered in front of a priest! The lace one is much nicer and more bridal. However, if you are struggling to decide, maybe the perfect dress is still out there.

Definitely the second one. However if you've tried them both on and are not 100% sure about either of them, neither of them are your dress and you should probably keep looking

I agree with everyone else, definitely the second one!

The ruffles on the first one look a bit cheap, and I know what you mean about shiny materials, they arent the best either.

The second one is much more weddingy and this is the only day you'll ever get to wear a dress like this. The first one could be a fancy maxi dress for a party!
