Help!!!!!!!!! Will I still fit in my dress???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MsJackson78, 4 December, 2009 at 21:14 Posted on Planning 0 25

After waiting several days for the dreaded period to turn up decided to do a test and I am pregnant!!!!!!!!!!!! which we are over the moon about BUT...... I have ordered my wedding dress already!! How likely is it at 4 months pregnant I will get in my dress? As you can tell this is my first baby so haven got a bloody clue LOL

Has anyone else had this dilemma??? Do you think I should go asap to the dress shop?

Ooooooh congrats!!!! must be something in the hitched water.

not that I would know from experience but from friend's of mine it really changes from one to the other - some of them didn't even show until about 6th months. I don't remember wht your dress is like- is it tight on the waist?

I suppose it depends a bit on the style of your dress. I've never been pregnant either so can't offer any real advice. Just wanted to say congratulations to you both ?

Ok, don't want to upset you but your dress has quite a fitted shape so you might have problems if you start to show early. But, as has been said some people don't show until later in their pregnancy.

Sorry, I know that doesn't help but hope you get something sorted.

Thanks sweetheart_sgc you are giving me some hope. I love my dress and I am really hoping it will still fit I am going to be careful not to stuff my face for the sake of it LOL I am very curvy anyway as I have hourglass figure and and I am size 14. I kinda think this will mean I wont show too early anyway.

I have to say I am very excited that I am pregnant as we thought it might take a lot longer than it has even the thought of having to change my dress isnt dampening my spirits and I just cant wait to tell my folks they are gonna be soooo happy. xx

    Congratulations!

Are you able to ask the shop where you bought your dress/having your fittings about altering it if necessary? I remember when I had my fittings the lady was telling me that they have to alter quite a few dresses for pregnant brides. It might depend on the style of dress and how much they can take it out by but i'm sure you don't need to panic x

    Congratulations!

Does the dress have a lace up back? It may give you a little more space to accomodate a small bump?

Thanks everyone for your good wishes ?

Yes my dress is lace up oooh I do hope that it will mean I dont have to change my dress because it really was 'the one' out of the 30+ dresses I tried on!

    Woo congratulations!!!

The same thing happened to me! - only I was due just over a week after the wedding, so we changed the date yesterday ?

When we get married I will be 5 months pregnant and hoping not to show too much - but everyone is different. From what I've read people who havent got flat tummies tend not to show until later on (I'm normally a 12) so you shouldnt have to much problems with your dress, but go into see them as soon as you can to let them know.

How far gone are you? Its an exciting time (my 1st too) make sure you take a trip to the baby talk forum too its really helpful xxx

CONGRATULATIONS! Smiley smile I can't really advise much on the dress other than go to the dress shop asap as it looks quite tight across the waist! I didn't get a proper bump til i was about 28weeks, (i was still in my size 10-12 clothes til then) but when i went for my 20week scan other girls there were massive!!! so it just proves everyone is different! good luck- how are you getting on so far? any niggles? congratulations again! sorry if this has been hard to read, i'm on a phone and it won't let me paragraph!xx

Firstly congrats!!! Secondly You will look and feel like you have had a few roast dinners people NORMALLY don't start to show around 5/6mths properly ie you wont have a full on bump... Unless you have a large baby.

If you are a size 14 tbh I think you should be fine.

Speak with the shop hon they will losen that area and you prob wont even notice...

    Your dress is beatiful!!

Aw congrats! No champagne for you then young lady! ?

It varies a lot, the girl who cut my hair last week is 4 months gone and you can hardly tell, I only really took any notice 'cos last time I had my hair cut after coming back from our scan i was blabbing about it and she told me she was pregnant.

My wife on the other hand is just hilarious. On the first at 6 weeks she was having trouble hiding it from work and second time around, she was showing so early the pregnancy tests were still saying negative! She was getting paranoid she'd eaten too many cakes!

Both of these ladies are slim young and fit, there just doesn't seem to be a pattern!

Thanks guys for all the congrats messages. I am going straight to the shop tomorrow afternoon see what they have to say. Have told my folks today and practically the first thing mum said was 'what about your dress' LOL

Definitely no champagne for me on the big day ☹️ or at xmas, new year, hen do and birthday!! LOL

I am feeling great so far but still very early days I reckon the lack of alcohol will actually mean no weight gain those large glasses of wine after a stressful day of work werent doing my waist line any good anyway.

Thanks starstruck that makes me feel soooo much more confident.

GOOD NEWS.... I've been to the shop and the lady was great she reassured me that with lacing and the way the dress is made there shouldnt be any problems. I am hoping I wont put on too much weight as I am being careful not to stuff my face just for the sake of it. I read an article that said its actually only in the last trimester that you need to eat more calories and only another 200 cals is needed

My dress should have arrived in by end of January so plenty of time to keep making adjustments ?
