Help with colour scheme

april_bride, 31 July, 2011 at 10:57 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hi, I would love some honest opinions/tips re our colour scheme...

My dress is a light ivory

Bmaid dresses are magenta (in chiffon material)

Groom will have a dark charcoal grey kilt

Groomsmen will have dark grey kilts with thin strips of light blue running through them

(Unfortunately dont have clear photos that show colours)

The initial idea was to have an ivory and pink colour scheme with lots of greenery as to brighten our venue up and keep it all fresh looking. Have not picked flowers yet but thinking mainly ivory and pink with accent hints of blue here and there (not sure at all if this is possible?). But would this look right with lots green leafy bits too?

Now that we have the bits of blue in the kilts I am not sure how to tie that in and im not sure whether it will look to much (my dad thinks blue and pink won't look right together!) For groomsment I thought - pink cravat and an ivory flower with a bit of a blue flower to tie in with the kilt colours.

(Just to add it is a spring wedding so want bright colours)

Would love some advice if anyone can visualise how this would look best, or if any flower hibs can give any input,

Thanks in advance x

Magenta and pale blue with grey do go well together - most men don't really get colours so I wouldn't pay much notice to Dad LOL! I would just use the blue as an accent colour as you suggested. There's quite a few blue flowers available in springtime as well as magenta too so you should be fine with your flowers. If you google images of those colours, it will throw up some ideas for you to make a colour palette. Another way is to nip to B & Q and pinch a few colour swatches for the paint and cut them out and place them next to each other. Keep hold of them and take them to your florist and then she can show you the nearest shades available in flowers. Our daughter had magenta with grey suits but they mixed black and gold with it and a splash of polka dot too!

Hi, my colours are the same as yours- well raspberry pink for my bm and the men will be in navy - but with ivory cravat and hot pink gerbra button hole- my dress is also ivory and my bm is in a chiffon dress (romantica-nila)

Oh wow my bm's are having the nila dress as well!

The more i think about it i think it will be fine as long as the blue is just dotted about here and there. Anniepie think my other half is going to go mad with mag cutouts iv went a bit crazy haha!

First florist appt is in a few weeks so I'll be sure to take lots of pics with me, would really like something like this for my bouquet but with less of the blue and with some ivory flowers -

and for the bm's probably just cream roses with a few pieces of blue x
