Help with decorating a wedding table please....

clairegwen, 3 June, 2008 at 00:29 Posted on Planning 0 18

Hi,

We are launching a new wedding-related website in our local Tesco at the weekend. I want to decorate a table and would appreciate some ideas. The problem is that the table will be in the foyer and I need things that people won't want to help themselves too but at the same time will look nice. I'm not very creative. I've come up with some white tablecloths, plastic champagne flutes and a sprinkling of confetti, any other ideas please? As always we have left things until the last minute!

TIA

Claire

Of course balloons !! Thanks for that I hadn't thought about those. I have connections with a florist who do balloons too so I think I will pay them a visit tomorrow. Thought about a few flower heads as well would that work?

yeah, that would be lovely. How about you have, depending on how big your table is, a plate with flower heads, say gerberas, around the outside and a bowl with some chocolates in the middle of it.

are you serving drinks? if so maybe substitute strawberries for the chocolates or do that as an alternative.

Unfortunately the supermarket don't want us giving drinks or food away. Its a shame really because a cake maker wanted to provide homemade truffles but we had to decline the offer. Not quite sure how all this is going to go to be honest, its something we have never done before. Feeling very nervous now!!!

Are you going to do goody bags? You could always put the truffles inside them if that have just been funny about the food being on the tables.

I never thought about that (see what I mean about not being creative!), thanks for that idea. I'll see if its too late to take the cake maker up on her truffle offer. We aren't going to be there all the time (there will be a large display board and information will be on the table), but its definately worth thinking about for the times when we are there.

How about some pull bows on the Table to decorate. Ask at your local florist if you can buy a couple from her. They only cost pennies to buy buy dress the table.

Thanks for that Sherrie, I will ask about pull bows today. Thanks also for all the other ideas. Has anybody any idea where I can get some plastic flute glasses from? I've seen them on the net, but its too late to order them now as I need them for Saturday morning.

Our local Tescos sell plastic champagne flutes....

Do they have to be plastic though - wouldn't glass look better? Not sure what sort of wedding business you're promoting, but I'd say that the nicer the table looks, the better your business will look.
