Help with green BM dress

diamondsragirlsbestfriend!, 16 January, 2009 at 23:01 Posted on Planning 0 13

Hi - I have finally decided on a colour scheme which is sage green, silver, ivory and hints of pink. I'm stuck on the BM dress though (thankfully I only have one to get). I quite fancy a green dress and she will probably have a pink/ivory bouquet. I'm looking preferably for a high street dress but have searched the main shops online such as coast, debs, bhs, littlewoods and not having much luck. I don't want to spend more than £100-£120 if poss. Preferably looking for strapless and tea length but can be flexible. Has anyone seen anything or know anywhere else I can look? I would preferably like to see the dress online as I'm not in the UK and then go and get my BM (who is in UK) to go and try it on. Wedding is end of May and I really feel I need to get this bit sorted.

Do Bridal shops have BM dresses in that price range? (my BM is in the Tunbridge wells area).

Just one final question, has anyone seen the peridot green range in BHS, is it green cos online some of the pics look silver.

Any suggestions/advice much appreciated.?

I will look for you, but can't promise a result.

I am having sage green bridesmaids too. My CBM is making them. I had a look online a whiole back for high street dresses to se if they would be cheap and less hassle for her. But no luck in that colour.

Thanks Zippy, the tea length one could be an option though not sure about the quality with internet stuff. For some reason I was thinking 'sage' was a bit bolder than in those pictures (I'm thinking my bathroom colour, not that that will mean anything to you).

Cat - thank you I had forgotten about Monsoon. I absolutely love that dress and I think it would probably look great on my BM. Its a different green from what I was thinking but I am very tempted. Only concern is it could look a bit wintery for a May wedding. Mmmmm may have to get BM to go check it out cos it is lovely.

    Thank you.

I think the returns policy is good on that site so could always send it back. I am having a light sage green.

I love the colour of the dress Cat posted...more of an emerald.....which is the birthstone for May. I don't think it would look wintery at all.

Its just that emerald green was recommended for winter weddings on a website about colour schmemes. Maybe I'm just over thinking it. I know at the end of the day you can have whatever you like and whats important is how the BM looks and feels in it. With touches of pink it may look less wintery too. I think I will forward it to my BM and see what she thinks.

    Hi,

My wedding is in August and I have the green BM dresses from monsoon - I love the boldness of the green!

BHS have a lovely new green collection, I saw the BM dresses last weekend and they are beautiful dresses. The green is a more subtle and softer colour and maybe more what you're looking for?

Thank you Fenny. Yes I had seen those ones online but I wasn't sure because in some of the pictures they look a bit silver. Are they actually green green? (if you know what I mean.

    Thanks

Yes they do look a bit silvery on the web site don't they. I saw the tea lengthy/prom one in the store and it wasn't silvery at all, was definitely green-green!

It may be worth a visit to confirm it's the colour that you want

Yes! I saw them today... they are almost exactly the colour of Alfred Angelo celadon - the colour of mine. They are a lovely sage green and would be a great solution - the short prom dress would be perfect for what you want wouldn't it?

My sister is having sage green dresses, and they were from coast. Not sure if all the shops still have them but they do have them in the outlet stores, and in a few different styles too. Mines like this.

Its definaly more green when you see it too.

Hi everyone - thank you for all your help, much appreciated. Think I am going to go for the BHS ones.

Pollypocket - the coast one could be a back up.
