Most registrars will accept formal bookings up to 12 months before. It might be possible that individual registrars are willing to "pencil in" an informal booking further ahead than that.

Our registrar and celebrant, who travelled to our venue, cost £580 or so (Cheshire).

As for recommendations? I don't think you can have much choice, either with office or with specific person. Your venue will fall under a register office licensed area and you have to book your registrar with that office. We weren't offered any choice of registrar.

Some areas yoU can only book within 12 mths of the wedding, others allow you to book further in advance. Ours allowed us to book 16mths in advance. The total cost of ours co ing out to a licenced venue is £390, of which we had to give £100 deposit to book the date.

The venue that you have chosen will be able to advise which registra office they are licenced with and it is them that you will need to contact.

    Same as above really.

We were able to pencil our date in with the registrar then actually booked it 12 months before.

Do you live in the same county you plan to marry in? If not, you will need to contact both registrars.

You don't get a choice of registrar as far as I'm aware. We certainly didn't, and I've not heard of anyone who did.

Our was Lincolnshire and cost £350. We gave notice in Leeds as this is where we live. We had to pay a fee to them too of about £30 odd pounds each, I think.
