Hey gang,

me and my partner are trying to find a wedding venue which we can have a BBQ at in essex, im shocked that nobody will even entertain this idea... any ideas?

the closest i got was getting a quote then having the price nearly doubled when i turned up to view the place.. is there any sections i can find venue hire only where i can get my own caterers?

any help would be awesome

My friend had her wedding ceremony and recption at The Coach House Marks Hall, which is near Coggeshall. Not 100% if you have to use a caterer from their list but they used The Essex Hog Roast company and had lamb on the spit with veg and gravy. They added an awning/marque to the barn and the caterers were set up there. They also did their own drink too.

Vaulty Manor I know do make you pick from a list but the also have a BBQ type company on it so that could work out. Aussi BBQ they're called. Vaulty manor also doesn't charge corkage for any wine for the meal you wish to provide yourself. It is between Heybridge and Goldhanger.

Hi thanks for help, i tryed vaulty manor but in not paying 4k just to step inside the place.... iv tryed about 50 places so far... no one will even listen to the idea..

thanks for the welcome, were looking @ 27th july... a friday, i reckon about 75% of the places i have contacted are free, one of the ladies reckons its because everyone wants to watch the london games open on that date.. would it be gambling to hold out for a better deal in a months time?

    Hi,

I'd be interested to know if you find anything too. We are looking for somewhere nice to get married where we can do a lot of it ourselves, but everyone is very specific and formal - its just not us!! We'd love to sort our own catering and get somewhere which will look great but not cost stupid money. Maybe I'm a bit deluded .... :-s

Have you tried Gayne Park Barns as they use caterers, so they may entertain the idea. It is a lovely venue, went to a wedding there last year.

The Reid Rooms. They had a hog roast at the last wedding we sent to there, and they allow outside caterers

Have you tried Crondon Park in Stock, Billericay. My CBM's daughter is hoping to marry there 2 weeks before us. Not sure she has set her date yet though or what the cost is.

Not sure what your budget is but we are getting married at East Mersea Hall and having a bbq. You have to choose your own caterers, dj and drinks for during the day (no corkage) there is a bar for the evening. They are having an open day in April- https://www.monbuzz.net/

Have you tried springfield marquee in Thorpe-le-soken? My SIL got married there a few years ago & took her own caterers. Lovely grounds, a pond & huge marqee & dance floor

    Welcome to hitced too.
