hen do alternative. ...

Hi all,

Having a small hen lunch with family members and a couple of friends. - my two close friends cant make it : (

Its a sunday lunch in a bistro and im worried its 'dull' as its literally just lunch.

As a guest, what would you expect? Should I decorate the table? If so what with?

My moh has done nothing to date so im organising everything and paying for everything myself.

Worried people will be expecting games/decoration/balloons etc. Would you be expecting that and if so what should I be sorting?

Help!

    Hiya,

To be honest i'd only really expect anything if it was a night out with drinking involved and things, and even at that, I probably wouldn't expect balloons etc i'd expect some games and maybe some banners badges and things like that to be worn.
If I was told it was just a quiet lunch then I would expect just that and not too much fuss which is just what some people want, I wouldn't decorate the table or anything like that but then I've only been to a few hen nights and there wasn't anything like that it was just nights out with the bridal party wearing some funny stuff but no decorations or anything Smiley smile

All depends on what you like and want

for my hen there will NOT be pink tutus, random dildos, flashing crowns, feather boas or anything of those kind because although it 'standard' hen stuff I find it soooo tacky

if you watched hens behaving badly im much more like the Amsterdam lady (only a little less controlling lol) so everyone will dress in a matching theme but not in fancy dress and the wont be any random strippers, peeing in the street or picking fights

do what you want, if you want a classy meal without the cheesy stuff then do that... im sure you dont need silly games as you'll be with friends so banter will flow naturally

    good luck

My hen do was possibly the dullest hen do every by some standards. There was very no drinking, no theme, nothing pink/fluffy/sparkly/tacky at all. Just a bunch of friends going for afternoon tea, followed by shopping then dinner. I used it as an excuse to talk excessively about my wedding, to hang out with my friends and eat good food. Even if it is just lunch, it will still be all for you! As a guest at a hen lunch I wouldn't expect anything except lunch and the bride-to-be! Don't fret too much about what other people think and do what you would like for yourself. If you want balloons & decorations go for it, otherwise, relax Smiley smile
