Hen do cost

Smithette2b, 14 January, 2014 at 13:22 Posted on Planning 0 8

Hey!

My BM is on the ball and already looking into the hen party! I want to go to Newcastle (I'm in Notts) and for 2 nights b&b including cocktail making and club passes its going to be around £80 then they'll be the mini bus cost on top! I tihnk this is quite good but then I always feel guitly asking poeple to pay!

Then I think a) they will be having fun too b) they don't have to go and c) they should want to be there

Am I asking too much?

What are you guys looknig at doing and spending, roughly?

Thanks :-)

That sounds like a pretty good deal to me!!

My BM and Mum are sorting mine out and I've told them to keep costs minimal. I've got no idea what they're doing yet.

I'm off to a hen soon that is costing around £300 and people have been happy to pay.

Hens are beginning to get more expensive and it feels like people are sort of expecting to pay for a weekend away so I wouldn't worry!

Personally I don't think that sounds too bad to me.

However, your reason C seems a bit unfair, someone might want to be there a lot but can't afford it so it seems a little harsh to just expect them to pay for and attend whatever you come up with.

(I'm speaking from experience here, in the past I wouldn't have been able to afford that sort of money for a weekend away, no matter who it was for and how much I wanted to be there)

I think £80 seems like a good deal. As long as you're up front about the costs and give people plenty of notice to save if they need to then you shouldn't have any problems.

That seems ok, if you break down the costs they are getting quite a lot for that money. Even with bus and spending money it could work out at £200, which for a weekend away is reasonable I think. As long as you give them plenty of time and ask their opions then I'm sure they will be happy to pay.

It's expensive to me because i am cheap (i've never spent more than £30 on a night out in my life :/ lol) and right now i'd personally struggle to find it for someone elses hen- or even my own! lol (two children, uni fees, wedding to pay for etc) HOWEVER, compared to most hen do's i've heard of through work colleagues and on forum posts, it seem pretty gosh darn reasonable Smiley smile

hope you have a great time Smiley smile

That sounds good to me - as long as there is time to save!

We're going to Bistro Live in Leicester, will cost about £35 and then I'm staying in a hotel after - £90 for a room for 4.

So will be about £60 for those who want to stay as well!

Hey I went to Newcastle for a friend's hen do in August (based in London) and cost me about £200 for 2 nights, casino, activity, travel etc.

I wouldn't feel bad about it - it's people choice whether or not to come and whether they wish to spend/can justify spending the funds.
