Hen Do Help!

JLLS, 19 October, 2017 at 12:49 Posted on Planning 0 3

It has been a while since I posted in here as I got married 2 and a half years ago! I am now planning my sisters hen do who is getting married at the end of the year. It is a couple of weeks to go to the hen do and I am getting a little panicky. Basically she has high expectations and I am starting to think the hen do I have planned won't live up to what she is expecting.

We are going to a nice (small) city. Going for a nice lunch, then spa, then nice evening meal at posh restaurant, then breakfast the next day in another nice place. Staying in a really nice hotel. Have planned several games throughout the evening, champagne on table for dinner, going to decorate the table in the restaurant and head to nice bars after the meal. Hadn't planned any specific dress code.

We don't have anything planned on the Sunday as it is a bit of a journey so thought people might want to head off after breakfast (which isn't booked until 10:30am) to allow them to account for the 2/3 hours journey back home. Those who want to stay on for a bit longer can do and we had just planned on wandering around.

If this was your hen do would you be disappointed? I am starting to think it won't be good enough for her, but I just don't know what else I can add in to make it any better.

Sounds good to me, but why don't you just ask her? There's no rules that say it needs to be a surprise. Or you could go sly and ask where she thinks she's going to gauge her expectations

    My hen do is:

facials/ manicure (some kind of Beauty treatment but I'm not sure what)

    Lunch /afternoon tea

    Wine tasting

But I didn't want much of a fuss

Sounds perfect to me! But I would have a chat with her just to make sure that she will be happy. Or if you want to keep the contents of the day a secret have a chat with some of the other hens. My hen was in Cambridge and we had: punting, cocktail making, dinner, drinks, and then breakfast the next day. We all headed off at different times and some of us stayed to have a wander around for a couple of hours.

I think that sounds lovely, I'd be happy if my maids booked all that for me!

Sounds amazing! My sister is planning my hen do for early next year. I have no idea where I'm going or what we're doing. I know we are staying in the UK but flying somewhere. To be honest I'm just so excited that my nearest and dearest are making an effort to spend their weekend with me. When the hen do is over, that's the main thing she will remember. Good luck. I've been there before planning for a friend so I can relate from both sides!
