Hen do help - need ideas!

CountDuckula, 12 June, 2009 at 12:10 Posted on Planning 0 5

For my hen do, 14 of us are hiring a cottage in Somerset for 2 nights. It's a converted church and the pictures look amazing, I wanted something quite relaxed and am not interested in doing the whole bar/club/screeching women/L-plates thing. The plan so far is Friday night, find a local pub for a meal and drinks. Saturday day time I am thinking of spending the day at Weston Super Mare for donkey rides, fish and chips and general seaside fun. Then having a big bbq/piss up at the house in the evening. I'm struggling to think of things we can do to liven it up a bit and make it a bit different from just a night in.
I have bought a giant jenga from ebay. I looked at hiring sumo suits for a bit of wrestling but have had to scrap this idea as the garden is more of a small courtyard with a pond inthe middle. We have a hot tub and one of my friends is also going to make cocktails. What else can I do that is a) cheap and b) not too much hassle? I have bloody loads going on at the moment and could do without anything that is going to stress me out even more or be a right ball ache to arrange. Help!

Mobile beauty therapist? My friend did this and it was lovely having a massage while chatting to my mates!

I like this idea but so many of my friends are totally skint and wouldn't be able to afford anything. I already feel bad at asking them to fork out £125 for the cottage.

I totally forgot about Singstar, thanks for the reminder! Someone mentioned this to me ages ago. Would be really useful if the weather is rubbish as well.

    Thanks both!

We did fairy cake decorating recently at one I went to - you can buy loads of decorating bits (or people might have them already - sprinkles, writing icing etc). Someon brought pre-iced cakes thay had made with them annd we all got creative - plus we could eat them after.

Otherwise board games work very well eg articulate, who's in the bag, charades etc you can ask people to bring any that they have at home to play.

We also did a game that involved blindfolding each person in turn and then getting them to put as many cottonwool balls on their head with a wooden spoon as possible in 1 minute -not messy and very funny after a few drinks ?

Now if it's after drinking games you're after, these I can provide. I like the one above though and shall be using that one in the future!

My fav is the after 8 game. You basically have to lie down flat, or at least tilt your head back so its flat, and put an After 8 on your forehead. The aim is to eat the After 8 by wiggling your facial muscles until it goes in your mouth. No hands allowed! Obviously very funny to do and watch. Most end up missing your mouth and you end up with choc trails all over your face which must be photographed for evidence. ?
