Hen do ideas

HellsBells42, 29 January, 2014 at 21:15 Posted on Planning 0 14

I'm looking for ideas for my hen do this summer. So far the plan I have is to spend an hour or two in the morning playing laser tag in Holborn, I then wanted to see a matinee performance of 39 steps then dinner and drinks. I thought this way people could join in for different activities depending upon budget and interests. I also wanted to start laser tag in the morning so I get a whole day in. However, I don't know what to do between laser tag and the show as there will be a few hours before we finish one and star the other. So does anyone know what we could do in London for a few hours?

As an additional, what are other people doing for their hen dos? Anyone had inspirational ideas? It took me ages to think of what I wanted to do!

Won't you need lunch between laser tag and the matinee?

I know when I was thinking of doing a stop over in London (before going to Paris, now just going straight to Paris) someone suggested a picnic in one of the parks. I can't remember if they told me or I looked but you can get pre-made picnics from some of the shops down there, bit of a chill out after all the running round maybe?

What about one of those tea and cakes things at Fortnum and mason or similar? You can often get deals on hat type of thing.

I'm having a proper girly day with spa treatments to start, then afternoon tea, then a nice meal out, all local so people can join in which bits they like/can afford

From Holborn it is a short walk down Gt Queen St to Covent Garden. Lots of nice cafes for coffee/lunch, follwed by a mooch around the shops. Or another 10 min walk to the National Gallery/Portrait Gallery which is lovely and has a fab bar on the top floor with a view across the city.

I recently had an amazing hen weekend in London, including a 90 min life drawing class in The Troubadour (but classes take place all over London at a venue of your choice, or at the artist's studio). I went for free and got a free bottle of wine ? They're called the Hen & Stag Life Drawing Co http://henandstaglifedrawing.co.uk/

It was a really good laugh and the tutor was brilliant - funny and v patient! The nude life model was gorgeous and good fun too. As well as learning how to draw, we played silly games too. It was a great warm-up before dinner and clubbing. I highly recommend it! Good luck with all your planning x

Thanks guys, these are some great ideas. I had thought about lunch, but hadn't thought about a picnic which is a really good idea! We might also wander round a museum or gallery or something if there's some spare time

Patsies the life drawing sounds like you had loads of fun, but possibly isn't for me as I have difficulty producing a convincing stick man!!

Hi I am new to the site and need some advice. I am trying to plan a hen party but two of my bridesmaids are under age and so I was thinking of doing a spa session during the day then a murder mystery at night as you tend to stay in one place, get a meal and my two young bridesmaids could be involved. Is there anything else anyone could think of as I don't want to leave the young ones out as they are a big part of the day. Any help would be great.

    thanks

    Hi

Have you thought of having an afternoon tea - but with a difference? I went to The Berkeley hotel for Afternoon tea back in July, my friend is thinking about doing this for her Hen.

It isn't traditional afternoon tea, but is based on fashion. Have a look, it is such a great unique experience ! Smiley smile

What about going to Bounce in Holborn for a few cocktails and a game of ping pong? Or is that too many activities for you?

I love cocktails but it would be something my young bridesmaids would not be allowed to do wouldn't it. Have been looking at a roller disco too has anyone done that before? X

Luby loo you can still do cocktail making or something, they usually cater for younger ones or non drinkers and they'll make non alcoholic ones

Lol. That's what I suggested.. Great minds and all that.

I think you can still take younger people in there but they obviously can't drink.

It is a good laugh there.
