Hen Do Planning Help!

Barnett2015, 14 January, 2016 at 15:11 Posted on Planning 0 3

I haven't posted on here for a while but i need some help planning a hen do and i thought that this would be the perfect place to ask! I am organising a friends hen do, typically this would be easy peasy BUT we are a party of 15 and i havent met any of the other people going apart from the bride. Family members and friends will be going so we are of varying ages. The hen do will be a weekend in York, has anyone got any tips or experience of good things to do? I've got some ideas but any advice would be appreciated as i'm a bit overwhelmed!

    Hi!

I have organised a few friends hen do's. Does the bride wish to have any input? I would start by asking her things that she would/wouldn't like to do first, just so you have a clear idea!

If you're going for a weekend, I would suggest looking at types of accommodation for everyone. It may be nicer/cheaper to rent a house/cottage plus you would spend less on eating out as can prepare breakfast etc there. It may be a good idea to have a chill night on the Friday so everyone can get to know each other.. get in some food, drinks, party games, pampering type of thing. The perhaps an activity Saturday, depending on what the bride would enjoy.. followed by an evening out?

That's the type of thing that I'm having for mine anyway! Having a hard time not butting into my maid of honours plans though, ha!

I also set up a facebook page for my friends hen do's to see who was going and provide info. I also had a spreadsheet for payments and kept a savings account for people to transfer money too.

Alternatively you can go through lots of hen organising websites, who collect payments for you.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi,

I think of all the hen dos I've photographed, my favourite was one where the girls all dressed up in 1950s style dresses and had their hair and make up done in styles to match (it made the occasion feel a bit special). There were about 20 girls and they went for a posh afternoon tea in a local hotel. There had "Mad Men" masks and vintage style props for fun photos at the table (it was a very relaxed lunch), quizzes, presents etc. Afterwards the girls headed for cocktails in a quirky bar in Soho (London).

Good Luck with the planning! Smiley smile Minna x

My daughter in law recently went on a hen weekend. One morning they all went out armed with lists and phone cameras on a treasure hunt in pairs and had to have their photos taken with everything on the list. Which gave them a good laugh comparing when they all met up for lunch. They also had to design a wedding dress working in pairs and the dress had to be made out of toilet roll and decorated with whatever they could find in the room! The one wearing it modelled it and the other half of the pair had to given the commentary. There were prizes for the winners. I think there was wine and nibbles for getting to know each other time and ended with some spa time.
