Hen do sad feeling :(

Arquard, 14 March, 2011 at 17:33 Posted on Planning 0 6

Just found out my bridesmaid (who is also my brother's ex, but we're as close as sisters) can't make my hen do. It's her own fault; she's rubbish at reading emails and messages and returning calls so didn't realise what date it had been planned for and now can't get time off work to come. AND my stepsister can't afford to travel down either, so that's two 'family' members who aren't coming. Woe. *sniff*

It'll still be a fab evening with lots of lovely friends and wine, but I'm a bit mopey that the two closest people I have to sisters won't be there.

Just found out that FIVE of my other friends aren't coming either Smiley sad It's not exactly short notice, this has been in the pipeline for about 3 months. Ah well. What can you do! It made me realise I actually have fewer really close girl mates than I imagined. Most of the people I invited are old school and work friends, and I suppose we're not that close anymore but then I don't have an enormous circle of friends anyway.

Most people only have a few actual friends; the rest are just acquaintences and people you know but aren't really close enough to to be "proper friends".

I know exactly how you feel, both my sisters (who are also my bridesmaids) said they couldnt come to my hen weekend, so I changed the location to somewhere a bit closer to home so travel costs are cheaper and they still arent going to stay! they are coming but not drinking and going home each night! I have also had 3 friends drop out and another 3 will only come to some of it. Im now having to invites both mums to make up the numbers!!

Thankfully I have 2 great freinds and a fantastic chief bridesmaid (future sister in law!) who are determined to make sure I still have the best hen weekend ever!

Whoever said weddings are stressful didnt realise the planning the hen weekend is much worse!!!

Yeah we'll still have loads of fun. I'm glad I asked the bridesmaids now who is and isn't coming rather than waiting 'til the night. This way I can get my little sulk out of the way before the actual night!

Aw Im sorry you are feeling sad, but just think about your friends who are coming, I was a bit the same I had a couple of friends who it would be really easy for them to come, no time off work needed, not expensive and 6 months to save the £50 plus spends it was and they were still saying they couldnt afford to come and i was really surprised however other friends who live away and i dont see as often and who would legitimately struggle to get there have booked time off work and/or are travelling hundreds of miles in rush hour traffic to get there for me and a couple of other friends one is heavily preggers and other just given birth are insitant that they play some part in hen do so have factored in ways to include them. So that just made me realise who my real friends are. So although you have been let down by a few your real mates will move heaven and earth to be with you so just appreciate that you have them ?
