Hen do's

Mrs S*, 8 September, 2009 at 17:18 Posted on Planning 0 35

Inspire me! Please!

I've searched the internet and i'm bored now!

I've thought about blackpool or butlins but i don't really know what i want. I would like a bit of a spa but not too bothered as will have that in turkey as my final hen do bit! Then thinking something random, not too bothered over nightclubs, but wouldn't mind a 70's cheese disco or something on those lines. Ideally want a weekend...

What's everyone else doing or done?

I fancy the Dirty Dancing lesson, and then thought about having the whole thing Dirty Dancing theme. I am doing it all in one day I think, with that in the afternoon. Punting at teatime, and then dinner & drinks, followed by a club if I fancy (if I am drunk enough!) I'm not really a club person. All in Cambridge. Thought if I kept it local then if people dont want to or cant afford to do it all then they can come to the bits they want. Getting h2b to design the invites and the dress theme will also be Dirty Dancing.

Im thinking of Birmingham, can have 2 nights in luxury accomodation and brekkie, entry into at least 5 bars/nighclubs both nights with extras including reflex and flares plus on the Sat night entry into the Adonis act.

    Not bad for £130 each!

thats similar to what I am going for, did u see it in a wedding mag? I think that if I give people lots of notice then they can pay it off gradually/save up, most of my friends & family are in manc & north wales so travelling wise, it isnt too far.

No I found it on a site called somethin Party weekends. I did see some in a mag like it but even for a super dooper room its only £152 each which is a bargain. Thing is I need a £30 deposit off people before I can book as its a big deposit fee. Im going to just send everyone the info and then set a date for when I need money in and then book for the numbers I have otherwise you will be forever chasing. Where are you based max?

I fancy the video thing, have seen one for the day on Sat where you pick a song and they work out a routine for you and you dance all the song once learnt, sounds fun!

My CBM is planning my main one but I have reasons to believe it's going to be a European city like Amsterdam or Prague for 2 nights. Then I'm also going to do a day at the races, prob Lingfield or Ascot, for the people that don't come on the weekend - as that is going to be pretty messy!! ?

Me and my CBM (also my sister) was talking about this Friday. And at the moment we was discussing Butlins for a weekend. Or maybe blackpool. Then we ended up with a bottle of wine watching ghost. So we are still undecided LOL

Love that idea, I might use that If I may?!

I wish I could go away, but all my hens have lots of kids so doubt their OH would allow it.

I'm doing a Butlins weekend. £160 each for 3 nights dinner, bed and breakfast in the gold apartments. We're going on a 90's themed weekend.

Ideas ideas! Glad i'm not the only one who isn't sure! I though we might as well go away as we're all spread across the country anyway so having it at home (where ever that is!) would still make most people travel! I'm liking blackpool for the shere tackyness then i like butlins as you can get all food included plus people can have more time to themselves during the day if need be and it's easier for the oldies to go home early! x

Slightly off track... are anyone elses 'hens' (nasty term!) a lot older then themselves? I seem to have very few friends, a have about 4 close friends who will get invites and others who will say they'll come then not bother! Otherwise it's aunts etc (all who i'm very close to but they're my mums age not mine, and they're all definately 'young at heart'). My older cousins are all male and will make great numbers up for the stag do and the younger ones who are girls all 10-14 so too young to join in any fun. It's going to be me, my 4 friends my age then the older ones!

this is what i am thinking along the lines of as I am near cambridge but dont really go there a lot and the people i will be inviting will be coming from kent and manchester so i will be kinda in the middleish (well not really but at least i wont have to travel alot). Let me know if you find any good companies. Looked at a few but for weekend deals they are coming up as expensive!

I'm going to have a weekend away in the Cotswolds for about 10 of us. Idea is that Fri night is a PJ party with pizza, DVDs, games etc, Sat day is a country walk / pub / afternoon tea and craft type day and Sat eve is a BBQ or dinner type thing.

Then nearer the big day I will also go out for a more traditional boozy night out in London (where I live) with a larger group.

    Can't wait!

I am going to try an dbook it all directly myself. The dirty dancing I can only find through a hen night company and is £35 each. But the punting I was going to book direct and see if i can get some kind of deal. I have been punting on halloween with this company https://www.scudamores.com/

They do a champagne tour that is £20 per person and includes 2 glasses of champagne per person, but you can also do the college backs tour (not in the hen party section) and take your own refreshments for £12 each. Will probably do that and take own champagne or wine and strawberries.

I went glamping at the Rewind Festival - £160 includes entry into the festival with all the cheesy 80's acts, 3 nights in an already erected tent in a private area of the campsite, with fully inflated airbeds and new sleeping bag

Not sure but I'd be surprised if they didn't run it next year. It was the best fun I've had in years!

That sounds awesome! I wish I'd thought of something like that.

I guess mine was quite tame to be honest. Went to London, had some lunch in Covent Garden and then an evening flight on the London Eye followed by a meal and cocktails.

I guess it depends on what sort of do you're after. What about a day at the race or a river cruise in London? I think there's a company that provides the meal and entertainment, kinda like a party on a boat!

One of my close friends is organising mine. Wasn't originally going to have one but thought better of it and decided that aslong as it was quiet I'd be happy.

So far the plan is to have a spa day at a hotel in Manchester and then go out for a meal/drinks etc.

I have said strictly no dressing up, dares or strippers. Thankfully she agreed to it so I shall hopefully get the nice quiet night with my friends that I hope for.

I did see some v. bizarre events listed for hen nights including a foreplay lesson!! Seriously..... what on earth???!! Why would anyone want to do that unless with their OH!

Im thinking of doing ladies day at Royal Ascot with a Champagne Picnic Lunch and a Spa Hotel for the night or 2 maybe .....depends on hotel costs locally as when i searched some were v expensive as its Ascot may try to find a cottage to rent but dont think i will have much hope for one night so may travel to Bath by a limo and then do Thermae Bath Spa depends on the cost etc .......

Im liking the Murder Mystery evening, a friend of mine had her Hen weekend at Woolacombe Bay and we stayed in a lodge it was a great laugh we went surfing, flew kites, clubbing and had got dressed up and went for a nice meal above all it was quite cheap but one of the best Hen doo's ive been on!!!

I was hoping to have two - one away with a smaller group of close friends maybe do some pole dancing, cocktail making or a spa day. Then I'll have another for everybody which will just be a meal and some drinks locally

Nothing arrange yet right enough so that might all change.

For friends and family that can not make it I'm having a night out in Manchester either a Salsa dance class followed by a meal and pub/club or a meal and a cabaret club really not too sure yet tho time will tell I think!!

I have seen the dirty dancing themed night/weekend it does sound v girly and fun v tempting!!!

    Hi there,

I'm having a river boat shuffle along the thames for my hen night! That way I can have what music I want - no men pestering and we can take our shoes off to dance and not worry about our handbags!! there's 25 of us and works out about £30 each including a buffet meal onboard! well worth it.

Good luck with the plans though...
