Got back from my hen weekend yesterday and still haven't stopped laughing about it!!!!
The weather in Bournemouth was foul but we didn't care! After 5 of us flew to Southampton, we were whisked off to Bournemouth by the other 4 hens and checked into the Manchester hotel - a typical jaded seaside hotel with cavernous corridors and battered bedrooms. But it was clean and thats what counts. Robyn (my CBM) did a great job of organising everything and had made a bound booklet on the weekend with itinerary, fact sheets about each hen and loads of embarrassing photos of me....? We also got wear our sombreros - Robyn and I used to have a thing about the film 3 Amigos when we were younger!!!
We had 20 minutes to go to Corianders, a yummy mexican where everyone got to know each other a wee bit better....then it was on to Jumpin Jaks for what we thought was a cheesy night out but turned out to be their first rock night....so we left there pretty sharpish and hit the cheesy bars of Bournemouth until 2am.....
Saturday saw a wander around the shops....followed by 007 Heaven - a 'Bond Girl experience' featuring Scavenger hunts and challenges. The reality was really bizarre and we ended up with a fifty-something bloke who greeted us in a grotty basement wearing a flasher mac. He tried to whip the mac off to reveal his Austin powers style outfit but his belt got stuck - really lame but hilarious......Not what Robyn has been sold but had it not been so rubbish it wouldn't have been so funny!
After a wander on the beach in the 90 minutes of sunshine, we retired to the hotel to get ready for the big night out! I was presented with a white tutu, angel wings and tiara to wear - everyone else had matching outfits! We jumped on a disco bus and started a pub crawl of Bournemouth which was the highlight of the weekend. We were on our own with 2 stag nights - one was thirty somethings out for a laugh the other twenty somethings out for some action. We made the mistake of going upstairs with the younger ones only to be violated by some bare bottoms in our face (literally!) - ewwwwww ?. Needless to say we didn't make that mistake again.....A shot in each bar helped the party go with a bang and there was PLENTY of cheesy tunes and dancing! we eventually got to bed at 3.30am. No puking or raging hangovers funnily enough just a bit weary on Sunday morning!
Anyway - it was brilliant - so nice to have all my friends in one place and I was so touched that so many came especially as only a couple knew each other. And Robyn came into her own with her organisational ability - she is truly the best friend a girl can have ? - for those who don't know - she appears on this forum as Tahdah and I have the honour of having to better her weekend when I organise her hen weekend next year!
