Hen Party Pressies

Tracey86, 16 February, 2012 at 14:11 Posted on Planning 0 19

I was wondering if any of you are planning on giving your hen's a gift to thank them for coming on your hen do? I have read that some brides do this and I think its a nice gesture. However, from googling it seems lots of brides do a sort of survival gift bag with paracetemols, shot glasses, sashes etc inside and this isn't really suitable for my hen weekend- its not going to be a boozy affair as I don't really drink much and my BM even less than me!

I was thinking a little gift that I could give them all on the train or mini bus (not decided yet) on the way home would be nice just to say thank you to them for coming along to celebrate with me. I haven't got a clue what though!

Any ideas?

If you are looking for one thing instead of a gift bag with several things how about something along the lines of a girly favour like:

    Compact Mirror
    Dancing Feet fold up pumps
    Handbag hook
Small box of chocs and a thank you card

Something small you could pop into an organza bag with a thank you tag?

I'm not getting my hens gifts. I'm having two hen dos with about 20 people on each (different people).

Thanks for the replies ladies, some good ideas. I was at a loss! I like the compact mirror suggestion, there are 12 hens of varying ages and I think they would all appreciate that, maybe with a couple of choccies thrown in. A little organza bag and personal thank you tag is a fab suggestion. Thanks. Hitched to the rescue- AGAIN!

I'm sorry, what now? ? a gift for the folk on the hen do? Everyone I have invited seems to be over the moon to be invited and excited to be coming along... and the same for the firends I organised the other year... we had a fabulous weekend, that they only had to pay their (quite minimal) costs for and the rest was done for them.

I have never heard of this and seems excessive to me! What have they done to need thanking, chosen to attend, rocked up and had a good time!

Sorry - don't mean to sound negative, its a nice enough idea and I love giving people gifts, but TBH seems totally unnecessary. If anything they should be buying me gifts ;op (hehe! joking!)

TBH DarkMoomin, my initial reaction was similar to yours but once I read a bit about it, I began to think it was the done thing! Now I see from some of your replies that perhaps it isn't!

Think I'll still go ahead though, after a bit of research I should be able to get them a little mirror compact or similar for £2- £2.50 each meaning it will cost maximum of £30 which is affordable just about and I think they'd really appreciate the thought. You are right though, it definitely itsn't essential.

Nah me neither, spending out enough. What I will be doing is buying some bottles of Bucks Fizz and some croissants for the mini bus up there, as it leaves about 10am and lunch is a late one, so thought might get the party started :-) xx

I'm having a personalised card made for each of the people coming to mine (and a couple that aren't) from a very clever HIB. It's like an A5 flat card with design on the left that follows through them all but with each of their names on. The space on the right is free so i'm going to write something for each of them about what they mean to me.

Not costing that much and it's a personal touch

I have no idea what we are doing - BM is organising and I am loving that I know nothing about it, I am usually the organiser of everything! Anyway, iof there is a suitable time I may make some of my famed cupcakes (famous since a friends wedding that I made them for) or like you buy some bottles of fizz or something to contribute.

I didnt get my "chicks" anything - there were 34 on my one weekend and i had a pre hen hen at my mums and there were about 25 there so, nope, i didnt get them anything. however, on my wedding day, i did give my best mate and sister a pair of earrings for organising both of my parties.

For my abroad hen weekend, I have bought personalised initial keyring charms for each of my ten friends/family. Just a small token to show my appreciation.

Glad to be of assistance! I can see both sides of the argument for and against buying gifts like these. If you can afford it and there are only a few girls going, I think it's a nice idea, but certainly not required. I think of them more like a party favour than a gift.

Yes. My gift is come to my wedding and I'll buy you a 3 course meal for £87.50, evening food for another £21.50, booze, canapes and cake.

I know I sound stingy and I really appreciate all the girls coming on my hen do and the expense they're paying but as there's about 20 of them I just can't justify buying them gifts.

I hadn't heard of buying the hens party a gift, crikey whatever next! I have never been given a gift at a hen part either other than the obligatory badge and willy straw!

It sounds like a nice idea but those that want to come are my friends and want to be there plus they are really happy to be invited all day to my wedding and at $100 per head I think I have spent enough. I don't feel too much of a meanie as me and my mum paid $250 for the limo and haven't asked them to contribute in order to keep costs down.

If I went on a hen do I wouldn't be expecting a present, if anything I might be taking one.
