Hen/Stag when???

tealbutterfly27, 1 August, 2013 at 09:32 Posted on Planning 0 20

Hey all!!
What's the gap between the Hen/ Stag and the actual wedding? Is there a set time? Or do people just do it whenever they feel like it? I have no idea.
When are you doing yours?
xx

To be honest, mine was purely based on the price of the accommodation we wanted; it almost doubled in July (thanks to the schools kicking out), so we went last weekend of June! Getting married at start of September. I don't think it really matters. OH had his stag a couple of weeks ago.

    Hiya,

We get married in April (not till 2015 though) and we are wondering the same thing. We are thinking Feb time, so that its after the lull of January and Christmas and New Year is out the way. If not Feb, we were thinking it would need to be October 2014 so it doesn't fall too near Christmas time, but that seems super early!! I would love to go abroad but pretty sure everywhere will be freezing then!!....Hmm maybe I should change our wedding to a summer month LOL!!!

From other hen parties that I have been too, they are usually about 6-8 weeks before the wedding if its an away do, then the home one is usually a couple of weeks before the wedding.

    xx

We are getting married 21st April 2014 and I am thinking of having mine end of march/beginning of April, it will be a little warmer then and will give people time to recover from the christmas/January spend.

I'm getting married August 2014 and will probably have my hen in May half term as I'm a teacher and couldn't manage it on a weekend during school time!

I am getting married in Feb 2014 and I am having the local hen do in January 4 weeks prior to the wedding and then the one away (UK still) with mates in Feb, 2 weeks before the wedding - thought that would allow everyone to get paid after christmas.

My OH is having his stag do in November though. Suppose we picked a hard time of year to arrange stag and hen do's around.

We are getting married September 7th, my OH had his stag do 7 weeks before the wedding because it was cheaper (week before school holidays start) and to give any potential injuries (he is very accident prone!) time to recover! My hen is next weekend, 4 weeks before the wedding, purely because it was pretty much the only weekend myself and all of my bridesmaids could all do!

Our wedding is mid March so my hen do will be 2 weeks before and OH 3 weeks before. Didn't want to leave it too late but also wanted weather to warm up a little and give people more time to recover from Xmas and New Year

I get married on 16th November and both hen and stag are on 5th october, we wanted more than a month (in case of groom coming home minus eyebrows) and, as my hen party requires use of my parents house (and i want my mum there) we were a little limited by her being away last week in august/first in september then again last two weeks in september!

I'm getting married in October, and just had my hen do last Friday. OH is having his stag do closer to the time, in September.

I am thinking of having mine about a month before.

I can imagine that when it gets closer to the wedding every weekend will count to do all the last minute things and I don't want to spend my hen do thinking of all the things i still need to do.

Mine was just over 2 months before, purely because it was the weekend that suited most people. H's stag was about 1 month before the wedding.

I had mine 6 weeks before and the stag was the following week. Again it was just because this was the only weekend that everyone could do! It was quite a nice distance away from the wedding though. Close enough to feel like part of the event, but far enough away to be fully recovered!

We're getting married on 5th October and having both hen and stag the last weekend in August. I chose this as 2 of my best friends are teachers so it wouldn't be a problem for them getting time off. OH's happens to be the same but only because he's very disorganised and it was the only weekend his closest friends could do by the time he actually got around to thinking about it.

We had ours same night, and about 7 weeks before. H's shifts meant it was the closest we could do.

We both had ours 6 weeks before, purely because it was the last weekend before the school holidays and as we went to newquay it meant it was quieter as no families were on holiday, we both went to newquay separately but the same weekend and met up for a big BBQ on the last night, having a home hen a week on Saturday (2 weeks before)

I'm having mine 3 weeks before and OH had his 5 weeks before, these dates were chosen based on when everyone was free within the 2/3 months prior to the wedding. I'm also having a second hen party (with my mum and family) 5 days before the wedding.
