Here we go again...

spacecadet_99, 8 February, 2009 at 15:05 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 19

It's coming down pretty hard in SW Brum. And it's not coming down as rain which would be OK <sigh>

I've got to get my car to the garage tomorrow before work, which is up a steepish hill. It was already going to be a PITA due to not being on my bus route and was going to have to ask a friend for a lift, but if it snows heavy enough to stop me getting the car to the garage that's potentially an extra few days that I'll have to be getting the bus to work (and walking if they decide not to run).

I guess you know you're grown up when snow is bad news. Except if it snows hard enough to snow us in, which would be another story and would be just fine with me ?

It's been snowing quite heavy here too. (west of Scotland).

And it hasn't been snowing for a few days now.

I am in Leicestershire and am hoping it passes us by this time. I work in field sales so the last week has been a complete write off and am now suffering from serious cabin fever.

From a selfish point of view I am at the hairdressers on Tuesday and thats in Yorkshire - my roots are in desparate need of a good seeing too.

Though on a lighter note if the snow comes all this week it may stop the pending IL visit next weekend - bring on the snow I say - sod the cabin fever and roots!

I'm in SW Birmingham too and the snow still hasn't melted in our road from last week.

I just hope it's not as bad as last week for getting to work (B'ham Uni), which was a total nightmare on Thursday when driving through Harborne.

I'm jsut outside of Newbury and it's sleet at the moment. I'm hoping it stays like that because I start my new job tomorrow and the last thing I need is for the kids school to be closed on my first day!

However I drove to the Maidenhead this morning (otherside of Reading) and they have grass!! I haven;t seen grass for over a week. In fact my husband had to dig my car out so i could drive (all the main roads were clear). It was really weird how we've got so much here yet just 3 junctions down (of the M4) there nothing left.

Luckily in our road it seems to have melted and the roads are wet enough that for the moment it seems not to be settling. However when it freezes overnight I presume the snow will then settle.

Karma - I also work at Bham uni - had to walk on Thursday and from what I saw yes it was a total nightmare driving round. At least the uni itself is relatively well gritted.

It looks like it's coming this way (North Northants/Leics border) the sky is full of snow as my Mum would say.

ETA - It's just started snowing very lightly.

It's been chucking it down here (Swindon) but has just stopped. We've not moved the car since Weds, when it was awful anyway!

No snowing in though as I only work 3 miles away. There are no buses but I have nice walking boots ?

It's trying here just north of Manchester - we've had intermittant snow / sleet. We stil have lots of snow left over from last week too. As much as a pita it would be, I still love snow and want it to come down much hard than it has been doing so far today

I'm just about sick of it to be honest. I'm bored sh1tless at home, hate driving in it so wouldn't 'for fun' but I need to see people. Mr G is out at work all day, he works within walking distance. I'm also sick of people thinking they're funny when they call me lazy because I had 3 says off last week because of it. None were my decision. Given the choice I would actually go to work, but I can't because it's closed - the only person on site is the police officer. If school is closed tomorrow I'm going to ask the boss if I can go in in the afternoon and pick up some work; by then the roads should be fairly clear. I fear she'll say no on the basis of safety, which is why we've been closed. It's a complete white-out in our grove again already, and still coming down fairly persistently.

Well it's stopped for now but no guarantees overnight I guess. Fingers crossed it stays snow free for us all! Magical as it looks when it's falling it's not much fun getting to work in it.

We don't seem to have had any here in South Oxfordshire - I hope it stays that way as I really need to go and see people in my office. Although I did like it on Friday because Mr Caterpillar and I both got to work from home and it was actually quite nice to both be working together - haven't done that since university (yes we were one of those annoying couples that go to the library together...).
