Hi, I'm so excited about my wedding. But I am a bit nervous whether I should get a wedding planner? What are the pros and cons?

    Welcome Smiley smile

I guess the real question is why do you think you need a wedding planner?

The pro's, I guess, is that they do a lot of the 'donkey work' for you, if you want them to find you venues, cars, bands etc, from their network of contacts. This may be helpful if you're planning a wedding remote from the venue you're using, or aren't good at organising things, or are just very busy or trying to do it in a short time.

The downside is obviously the cost Smiley smile

However, you do have a choice of the 'wedding planner' who will basically organise everything for you, or to organise specific parts for you. You can also use one as an 'on the day coordinator' who will deal with your suppliers, venue dressing, timings etc and take the stress out of the day for you.

In the majority of cases there is no reason at all why the bride and groom to be should not be capable of organising everything for themselves - but it can be a daunting task and I don't think many people use a 'full service' wedding planner these days. However, there are a few on here who can probably tell you their experiences.

For the record, we did everything ourselves in just over a year and it all went fine.

First off, hi and welcome to Hitched ?

I've got a pretty hectic lifestyle but haven't bothered with a planner. In fact, the more time I spend on here, the more I wish I'd done more stuff on my own such as invites, table plan, cake, etc.

If you've got time to spare I would join in on here for a while first.

There's so much good advice, ideas, and inspiration - you'll want to start up a wedding planning business yourself by the time you're done!
