hi :)

Hi, i have been looking through the forum for a couple of months and have finally started to plan so thought i would introduce myself Smiley smile

My partner and I got engaged 22nd April 2012 but we was in the process of saving/ buying a house so we only started to the think about the wedding this year.

We are getting married on the 14th september 2014, one day after our 7 year anniversary at Stoke Rochford Hall, we are having the ceremony there and then an afternoon tea party. Later we are going back to my partners mum and dads and having a pizza and wine garden party type thing with fireworks at the end.

My main worry concerning the venue is who is supposed to decorate it? I presume and hope it is us but our wedding is on the Sunday and it starts at 1pm howvever there is another wedding being held on the saturday and they are using the same rooms as us which may go on late into the night

sorry for my ramblings,

sharne

    Hi & welcome Smiley smile

The venue usually provide some things, (ours providing lanters with tealight candles, lights on walls and some table decorations) but you usually have to provide some yourself, ask them what they provide or somewhere in your wedding package might tell you. They'll have it well cleared up by the time of your wedding don't worry, venues are well used to it and sure they'll have it spotless and all ready for you Smiley smile

Hi Sharne and welcome! Regarding decorating the venue, best thing to do is to ask the venue what time the room will be available for you / florist etc to get in to decorate. If it's not until the morning, you need to a) make your ideas nice and simple, quick to install, and b) delegate to either a venue coordinator or a trusted friend / relative.

Thankyou for the replies Smiley smile

when we looked round we saw the set up ie the way the plates and cutlery were set up which we liked and what they can add of their own for a fee like candelabra's etc but my partner and I have briefly discussed between ourselves what we want and we will probably set it all up at home so at the venue we can just put it on the tables etc i was just worried they would say your room will be ready an hour before.

I'm sure it'll be fine if you discuss it with your venue people they'll give you an idea what they provide and you'll get a better vision of it Smiley smile
I'm Amanda btw & getting married next May. Look forward to hearing more of your plans Smiley smile

    Hello and welcome ?

Firstly your wedding plans sound lovely. There is always the option of hiring an on the day planner to do it for you? Believe me, you are not going to be doing that on the morning of your wedding.

Hello and welcome to hitched, in terms of decorating it can be yourself or you can hire a planner or toastmaster to take care of it.

Hi to everyone and thankyou for the welcomes and replies,

i have included with my package a wedding coordinator so hopefully they will be able to do something or recommend something however i dont think i need to talk to them until a couple of months before the wedding its just something that occurred to me today and has started to niggle :/

we are quite organised and have a clear idea on what we want which is only about 4 components so if all else fails i will set some up at home and take pictures and then ask/ beg someone to do it for me, im just not very good at asking, oh well im sure it will all come together.

Our venue had another wedding the night before ours as well, but they set everything up for us on the day. I wanted to do my own flowers in teacups and things, so we made those the day before and I just left instructions with the staff at the venue so they could do it all. If you have an on the day coordinator, it's likely they will organise the set up of the rooms. It's something you need to ask them, though. If they don't do set up, it would be well worth hiring someone to do it.
