Hi Folks

I've been lurking a little while and having just finished some exams thought it was a good time to join the party and get on with some wedding planning. We've set a date for the 22nd September 2012 and booked Ellingham Hall in Northumberland (hopefully flashed below), booked a tog and booked 2 weeks in DisneyWorld for our honeymoon. Next job an attempt to make invites and save the dates ? .hopefully i can contribute instead of just lurking.

Hi there,

Just wanted to say that some friends got married there last June and we had the best weekend... you will not want to leave!! We were all a little disgruntled to leave on the Monday morning after having a fabulous country mansion to ourselves for three whole days!

Thanks guys, the venue is amazing. my OH's family have good 4/5 hour travel so we thought some where we could have for a weekend would make there trip more of a mini break than just a trek for one afternoon. so i get to do extra party planning for the friday afternoon and the sunday

MrsShark was the chapel open when you were there it burnt down last year and they've been having the wedding breakfast in a marquee, i'm just waiting for them to finish the reconstruction before we go and look around. Was the chapel as impressive inside as the rest of the house? i've only seen a few pictures of what it was like but it looks stunning?

Hi BB, no the chapel had burnt down 4 WEEKS before they got married, in fact I think they were the first to have the marquee set up! It all worked really well though, even though they were understandably gutted as the chapel was what had really wowed them.

To be honest I wouldn't worry about planning anything extra, we all arrived on the Friday night and everyone just hung out outside by the kitchen drinking and eating and getting to know each other (with a few trips across to the treetop playhouse for races across the wobbly bridges!!) and on the Sunday some people stayed at the house and chilled out but a few off us went adventuring - we drove up to Berwick-Upon-Tweed and then down to Bamburgh beach and went across to Lindasfarne later on for the sunset.

It truly is a fantastic venue and I am sure now the chapel is back operating it will be even more amazing. Feel free to ask me any other questions and I'll do my best to help! ?

Your venue is stunning and not a million miles from me-I love living near Northumberland-sea, sand and castles-I don't work for the tourist agency honest-just a proud Northern lass!
