Hi, I'm new

NicMac, 30 July, 2012 at 12:06 Posted on Planning 0 18

Hi everyone, I thought I'd say hello. My name is Nicola (Nic to practically everyone) I have been with my fiance since November 2000 when I was just 16 Smiley smile We got engaged May 2010, we have a son born November 2008 and a daughter born December 2011 and we have finally decided it is way over due that we get married!!! I have been waiting a hell of a long time for this day and our wedding date is 31st August 2013 Smiley smile eeeeeek finally!!!

I'm sure I bore people far too much with my wedding plans so thought I need to get myself to a wedding forum as my planning talk wont be boring here Smiley smile

so far I have booked the venue, ordered my dress, have the rings (only because the shop had the rings we loved priced up wrong and they would let us have them at the lower price of £300 off if we bought them that day so we had to snap them up as we knew they were the rings we wanted) we've booked a few other things like photographer and DJ just need to find myself a florist then all the major things are booked....I think!!

Ooo ok Smiley smile heres my dress http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?style=A3500

And the venue doesnt have a great website it has very few picturess and the ones it does have are not brilliant at all, it's not until you get there and you think "wow" (I went there once for a work thing (before the kids come along) and I loved it there, its so pretty and grand) here it is anyway http://www.oxfordhotelsandinns.com/OurHotels/CoulsdonManorGolfClub

    Welcome to Hitched!

First points to note... we like pictures, lots of pictures... and we are honest, if you ask for an opinion, that is exactly what you will get... none of that fluffy nonsense in here!!!

Im desperate to go but wanted to lose a few pounds first (never gonna happen!) So I plan on going the first week in Sept when Ive got a few days off work & can go with my mum ?

I'm also having 4 bridesmaid, who live in glasgow, newcastle, london & portsmouth area so getting their dresses will be fun!?

Tell me about it, I have 6 bridesmaids, well one is more of a flower girl, my daughter (she'll be nearly 2 by the wedding) then I have one girl in hastings, one in Wales, one in Dublin and 2 others in Croydon near me lol!! We clearly like to make things easy for ourselves Smiley winking Where do you live?

I want to lose my baby weight for the wedding so I have bought a dress a size smaller than what I am now but I intend on being another size smaller than that and the shop has told me that it doesn't matter how many times I need my dress taking in the total for alterations will not exceed £180 so at least I know I will have a dress that fits, I just must not put the weight on lol x

I live in Glasgow but I am from a small village near the Isle of Skye but we are getting married in Inverness (my OH is from Glasgow)

I would love to be two dress sizes smaller for my wedding & I am fairly confident I will be as I really dont want to look back on my pictures & regret not losing the weight. Though knowing me I wont start trying properly until after Christmas!

Im very excited about dress shopping & have a fairly good idea of what I want but everyone keeps telling me I will change my mind whenI start trying on dresses!

PS-Im very excited to have a date twin! xx

And me Smiley smile we can share all our planning together!!

Ugh, I know! I dread the thought of losing weight but like you say I don't want to look back at pics and regret it either so I will do it! Itt's mainly the baby berlly I have to get rid of!

oooo what type of dress are you looking for? I knew what I wanted and I eventually got what I wanted, I found other styles suited me that I didnt think would but they just werent me and I was so pleased the dresses I do love suited me also xx

At the moment I am thinking strapless & sparkly, not sure about the skirt, probably A line, but not ruffled, or hitched....

I bet I get something opposite to that though!

Haha yeah me and my fella our having the top layer of our cake to ourselves, so thats a good insentive!!!

I think I will be a bit happier about the dresses after Wednesday just feel quite apprehensive about it for some reason but sure my ma will look after me!!

If you have lost weight before it should be quite easy to do again Smiley smile I would be happy with losing about a stone too- my clothes range from 6 to 14 (which is ridiculous!) so just need to find a happy medium between now and xmas then stick to it!!

I used to be a size 6 when I was 18 but I was far far too skinny, I am very big boned so I honestly looked ill as I had all these huge bones sticking out everywhere! I think a size 10 is what suits me best and thats what I was before I had my son and now I am a size 14 so I am aiming for a size 10 once again Smiley smile and a non jelly belly would be lovely lol!!

I felt like that too, even after about 3 trips to the bridal shops and I still hadnt found my dress I felt upset about it and I did not understand what people were talking about when they found the one but it did happen and now my dress shopping days are over I'm sad lol!! xx

Aww well you can get your fix on here with people showing their dresses!

I was quite similar to you, I am 12/14 atm and would love to be 10 again, 6/8 is too skinny for me too- although i couldn't see it at the time but now when i look back at photos i looked wrong! like you say too boney!

    Hello, welcome and congratulations!

Haha, you won't bore us lot! I would be lost without this place to talk and read about weddings. I think my friends would have killed me by now, and I still have over a year to go! I can honestly say that Hitched has saved my life. It also helps as a place to go GAAAAAAAAAGH in private when your BMs/FMIL/HTB etc drives you batty hee hee
