Hi there, Another newby here....

Hello all,

You all seem a friendly bunch, so thought i'd dip my toe in the wedding planning water and introduce myself as I may need your help at some point! ?

I got engaged at the weekend and am now planning my...sorry.... our wedding. We have chosen Dec23rd this year (I KNOW!!)

So far so good with everything. We have found a venue to look at on Sat & have held the date. We think it will be perfect for us! Our friend is a registrar & has put herself down for the date. She is sure the venue will be perfect for us too.

I dreaded looking for a dress as I was specific about having a high neck dress. However, I popped along to our local bridal shop on Monday, and fell in love with the first one I tried on...high neck & all! Even more amazing is that they can get it in for Dec 13th! (It may have been 110% over my budget, but hey ho) So thats all good. We wrote our guest list & song choices down over a pint of beer the other night too.

I know we have a lot more to sort out, but I have written a checklist & budget (not that the dress budget stayed true..ooops) and hope we can come up with the goods, for a brilliant day.

Is it normal for things to go so smoothly?? Or does the fact I have less time to plan mean, I have less time to mess it all up? ?

I'm very excited about it all & can't wait to be a bride & a wife, after alllll these years of waiting for Mr Right to come along. I feel abit Monica Geller at the minute.

J

xx

    Welcome, I'm a newbie too!

Wow that is a quick turnaround! We got engaged in July and have had sharp intakes of breath with our April wedding. But I think it takes as long as you want it to take. Plus, I have a suspicion that the longer you have to plan the more likely you are to blow the budget on little twiddly bits that won't make a blind bit of difference to the day.

My dress was 110% over budget too! These things happen ?

Good luck, you're very organised. I hope it continues to go just as smoothly for you Smiley smile

    Hiya & welcome to hitched

Sounds as though you have all your plans under control, definitely do-able by December, we've covered weddings planned in 6 weeks before! With having a bit less time it'll probably mean you make decisions faster, as you know there's a tighter timescale, so you may find it goes more smoothly than if you had longer to plan ?

Thank you all for your replies. ?

I had a few drinkies round my friends last night and she offered the use of her Audi TT as my wedding car! she still has the ribbons from her daughters wedding. Result! Plus, she has leant me her daughters tiara & has a hair dresser friend who is happy to do my hair.

It's all go! I just wish I would stop waking up at 5am and staying awake! I'm exhausted already!! Not an attractive look to have baggy eyes.xxx
