HIBs that have donated raffle prizes (& hitchers if you'd like...)

littlebubs, 31 March, 2009 at 10:47 Posted on Planning 0 14

Hi all

Thanks again for your kind gifts!

Just a quick what if type question. Obviously it could be the case (because of the preference system we're running) that not all prizes will go. How would you feel about a "highest unique bid" type auction of the remaining prizes at the end of the raffle.

I would propose that hitchers had over the weekend to email me with their choice of prizes left and then pledge an amount to me. On Monday I would annouce the highest unique bid for each item and the hitcher that won it - who then (once they have donated that amount to the JG site of their choice) gets the prize.

Means that all of the prizes go and we raise even more money!

Let me know what you think.

What if you pull someones name out the hat and their 2 choices have gone, will they get to pick something else, in which case won't all the prizes go anyway!

If not i think your idea is a good one!

Also would like to say a big well done for organising this, you've really put a lot of thought into it and i think you've done it really well.

    Em x

I wondered this too. There are about 20 + prizes and I know my preferences contained about 6th, but what if my name came ot 10th and all my chosen prizes gone? For example, I didnt opt for any of the jewellery prizes as I know where my jewellery is coming from for wedding, instead i chose things I had not got sorted. But If they were all gone it doesnt mean I wouldnt want any of the other prizes. I think if there were unclaimed prizes your idea would be good though.

Sorry, I should have made myself clearer - obviously if all of your choices had gone the a pick of what was left would be first. Although in honesty most people have given me a list of 6 or 7 prizes, and the lists have been very varied, so hopefully this shouldn't happen too much!

Coolio, thanks all - we'll see what happens on Friday but will keep it as an option.

S&S - course you can donate/enter, some of the HIBs have already entered the raffle itself - or just gone on the page to donate. Just email me with what you've decided! x

One thought for the next time......some vendors can work by post in advance of the wedding....others like photographers, videographers, cars etc that are on the day suppliers are a bit more regional. As I mentioned in my post, being in the SE of the UK is not great if the raffle winner lives in the north of Scotland......happy to travel, although by the time the cost of that is passed on to the client, it sort of undoes the gain of winning the raffle to a certain extent.
