Hi, can anyone advise me on what sort of heels are acceptable to wear on my wedding day?

I think absolutely ANY heels you want to wear. Bear in mind you mght be in them for a long day but there are on rules on what you can or can't wear.

    Got anything in mind?

Whatever you want - it is your day and there are no rules. Bear in mind it is a long day and you want to be comfy so go with a comfy choice or at least have a pair to change in to for the evening.

    Wear whatever you like!

I'll be getting some mid height courts for the day in blue so I'll be able to wear them again in the future and if they're mid height hopefully they won't kill me. I'm changing into flats for the evening do so I can walk around and dance without discomfort.

I'm wearing flats all day. I have a dodgy back and heels always throw it out, so not worth the risk! Also I would be worried that if the dress length was fitted to the heels, it would be a few inches too long once I changed into flats. And if it was fitted to the flats, it wouldn't look right with the heels. I'm a fuss-pot, perhaps. I can honestly say I've never looked at a bride's feet at any wedding I've ever been to, lol! So if you want stockings, I'd say go for it!

Or wear your flats for the wedding and be comfy but put the stockings and heels on later for when the dress comes off! ?

Yes good idea, but sort of liked the thought of teasing HTB all day with stockings on underneath. hopefully he'll stay sober enough to perform afterwards ? might just stick with flats for comfort

From what I have seen over many weddings is that the height of the heel chosen by the bride is mostly governed by the height of the groom.?

I'm wearing flats as I have dodgy feet and while I can wear low heels our venue has a lot of cobblestones and if I walk on them in heels I'm likely to sprain something!

If you're intending to wear stockings all day then make sure you have a good suspender belt. Ones from Ann summers are pretty but not practical. What Katy Did do some good ones. Although also bear in mind your dress, as if it's form fitting/low back wearing a suspender belt may not work. Also I tend to wear my pants over my suspender belt as it makes loo trips easier.

Personally I'd wait till the honeymoon, as I'd hate to have paid a fortune for fancy pants to have them not be noticed!

You can get stockings with open toes in some shops so you could do both

I'm buying a bespoke pair of shoes, I bought a cheap dress so I thought I'd treat myself to amazing shoes. I'm also buying and blinging up wellies as we're getting married outside :-)

Wear whatever you want, if you want heels buy some, then you could buy some wedges that are easier to wear and ask a bridesmaid to look after them. Remember you need to know how high your shoes are so the hem of your dress is in the right place, if you buy wedges they'll be supportive and keep your hem off the floor if you get the same height as your heels.
