I'm getting married at highbury, it's a beautiful venue, are you already booked? What sort of thing are you thinking about?

Haven't had a wedding but I've shot a few there. Gorgeous, gorgeous venue. Food and staff are fab, grounds are amazing. Great thing is, the venue speaks for itself so you don't really have to do much if you don't want to! What ideas have you got?

Yes we are booked for August next year. We want an "outdoor/garden/picnic/relaxed" type wedding with a rustic feel to it.

We are opting for a tea party WB instead of a formal meal and having cheese platters and hog roast for the evening, hopefully rhe hog roast outdoors! One of the side rooms we are turning into a "babies & kids" room with play mats, and just general chill out for those with younger members of the family.

We want to utilitize the grass outside too as much as we can and have some ideas for that. There is only one negative about that venue and its the accommodation, or lack of. But we are going to stay at the Hilton in Bham which apparently does discounts for people coming from Highbury.

The staff (well one member i've so far had to deal with, Clare) are very patient, especially with my million and me emails backwards and forwards ith questions Smiley smile I have a great feeling about it.

That reply was to you also.

Do you have a link or a webpage to have a look at the photos you have done there please?

Sounds amazing and would be great there.

There are so many rooms aren't there so one into a play room is a great idea!

It's a shame about the rooms because the bedrooms have so much character but on the plus side, as well as outside, do some of your couple shots up there. They are too good not to use. I love the balcony all around the main hall too.

You are right to have a great feeling, they will really look after you.

Hi, We have played at Highbury Hall. It's a beautiful hall with wonderful staff. We've only played there during the winter time though, so I'm sure the grounds will look gorgeous in the summer!

You could make so much use of the lawn area, we are thinking of having a few lawn games available. From my conversations with the staff pretty much anything goes (apart from Chinese lanterns I think) I've also booked into the Hilton Garden Inn, but they said they don't do discounts with Highbury any more :-( I don't think you need much decoration inside but I have seen the hall with bunting on the balcony which looks lovely. If you google weddings at highbury hall you get loads of pictures of weddings held there, also there are lots of photos on their Facebook page. If you go online and look at rob and Sarah gillespe photography they have lots of photos that they have taken at highbury too. (I've searched sooooooo many) Highbury also do lots of free events like spring craft fayres, Christmas craft fayres which I have gone to so I can see the venue for ideas but also with different decs etc... ( I'm alittle obsessed! Lol

LOL Chamchick that post could easily have been written by me!! It's not obsessed.... it's proactive ;-) ;-) hehe

I'm the same though, have Google imaged and trawled through photographers who've done that venue to get ideas. Definitely will be utilising the gallery with bunting :-)

I haven't yet been there as a visitor but I will be going to the craft fair in a fortnight, after I've been to the vintage wedding fayre in the city center (Hotel Du Vin) of course. :-D

Garden games are on our list too. I have ideas for hanging things in trees but I'm not sure what trees are available near the actual building! It's been a while since I've been.

When is your wedding and do you have a theme, may I ask?

Lovely Smiley smile Our worry is the "party" room isnt going to be big enough for our 140 evening guests... how did you find this roo fit the crowd? Did a lot of people use the centre room instead?

There was around 150 last time we played and about 85% stayed in the party room all night, there was still room to spare too, it's quite deceptive how roomy it is in there, I actually remember thinking about space when we were setting up but it was totally fine

It works really well. Some of the older people stay in the centre room where they can still hear what is going on, just not so loud, some were walking around the grounds and the rest of the 100+ people were dancing or watching. There was a photobooth set up in the side room off the centre room too which worked really well.
