HITCHED AWARDS, FOLKS!

Haha i know... <no shame icon>

they're every year around christmas. i organised the 2008 ones (crikey, i've been here that long!) and raef and zippy organised the 2009 ones. we did categories like best dress, best venue, best cake, funniest hitcher, funniest thread, all sorts of things. in the few weeks leading up to them, we do flash threads so you can put pics up of all the things you want to be nominated for, and people vote! it's usually the busiest night of the year on hitched, and great fun.

if you search for hitched awards, i'm sure it'll bring up loads of threads...

Aah yes the good ol' hitched awards. Tis in my diary most years and I commandere (sp.) the laptop and wear something sparkly!

I won a category last year that I hadn't even made a cause to enter...joy!

Yep! around the middle of december. rules are that the people running the awards aren't allowed to be nominated, you can only be nominated in best dress if you have a pic of YOU in the dress (models not allowed). categories are tweaked every year.

for the last couple of years it's been a bride to be for the following year that has run it, so i did the '08 awards as i was getting married in '09, raef and zippy did the '09 awards as they were getting married in '10, so in theory it should be a '11 bride that organises this years, though it's basically whoever wants to!

Is it wrong that i'm still smug about my award?!!!!!

This is a brilliant idea and I love that you all care enough to do something so fun! Hurrah for Hitched!!

I have been hanging around here a while, on and off, but have always missed the awards. This year I am actually planning something rather than sitting on my bum looking at other people's weddings, so I have my eyes on the prize and will be shamelessly flashing all over the place between now and Christmas! ?

I saw that as well and was wondering to myself what it was all about!! Will have to keep an eye on here for more details!!

Seriously though, I think these awards are a fab idea. I love the way the Hitched community is refreshingly honest but wonderful things like this and the auction recently happen too. Sterling work, ladies, keep it up.

Be warned whoever takes it on! It's not an easy task but it is a fun one! And seeing it come together for one evening was brilliant!

Plus, last year I had the fun of being able to tease everyone about knowing the winners! ?

ETA: And some people gave really good, funny answers to so reading them was really fun!

Ooooo - it will be super close to my wedding then so I may have to miss out. Grrr!

Right, I set up an email address *****************@****************.**.***.**.***.******** and hitchers emailed me their nominations which I then put in to a spreadsheet. On the night, I gave Zippy all the winners and she typed up all the threads and basically took charge from there. I think we onlyl had about 30ish replies so not many but there were about 20+ categories so it took time.
