Hmph. Writing a tender advice.

Clairy, 23 November, 2008 at 20:33 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 3

If one were to write a tender for a contract, from a company, but the writer would be the main person delivering the service, should it be written in the third or first person?

E.g.

"Microsoft is a company specialising in..... The consultants who would deliver this project are X and Y. X's specialism is whipping and Y's specialism is light bondage..."

or

"Microsoft is a company specialising in... I would be the main consultant. My skills are..."

Writing it down, A seems obvious to me, but it seems really weird writing about myself and calling myself by my first name (if that makes sense ?)

I use the third person for anything formal.

You have to think of it from the reader's point of view - it's not coming from Miss Clairy, it's from Whiplash Inc.

    Good luck!

3rd person - I assess tenders at work and often (rightly or wrongly) see tenders written in the first person as less professional. A tender response would form part of the ultimate contract and that contract would be between your company and the customer and so it is the company who should respond to the tender IYSWIM.
