Holiday in Dubai

Jinko, 21 May, 2008 at 15:51 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 13

We went to Dubai as part of our honeymoon and were only there 3 days and I would love to go back but with a toddler who will be 3 at the end of the summer am I mad??

We would want to go in January when the weather was cooler. Can anyone recommend a family friendly hotel and also are there are travel companies that specialise in this area as I know that Dubai can be very expensive and I want to try and get a good deal!!

Royal Mirage is the place we stay at - excellent with the kids - ideal location.

Expect to pay around £1100 each for 7 nights H/B there in Jan on Emirates & £170 for Child.

We have taken our Daughter (& now Son 11 mths) out there since they were babies.

Try www.bestatdubai.com - we get excellent rates from them (UK Company)

Thanks Mrs JMP, that's where we stayed on my honeymoon but I wasn't considering at the time if it was suitable for kids.

Jumeriah Beach Hotel is particularly good for young children, you get free entrance into Wild Wadi water park each day as well if you stay there.

I love Royal Mirage, but always think that Jumeriah Beach is a bit more child orientated.

I don't sorry, as I live in Dubai I'm not sure of which companies in the UK are best

    Hi

We went in March this year, our little boy is 3. The weather was perfect between 28-30 degrees, able to play on the beach and in the sea every day. My little boy had a whale of a time. We stayed in an apartment on Jumierah Beach Residence - booked through www.holiday-rentals.co.uk . The things he enjoyed the most were the Wild Wadi Water Park and a desert safari in four wheel drive jeeps, we also did a boat trip out of the Marina and he is still talking about riding he camels. In fact he bought a toy camel and named her Shiela. Playing on the beach and playing in the pool and eating out all very child friendly. We will go back in a few years. A huge two bed, newly build apartment cost £1250 for 10 days, it had 42 inch plama, dvd, x box, internet access. Great kitchen, veranda, pool and maid came and cleaned every couple of days.

We felt very safe at all times, and I could definately recommend it.

Atlantis hasn't opened up yet, but a friend had a tour around the complex the other day and said it looks amazing. There will be a new waterpark there too, which opens up in September and by all accounts is much bigger than Wild Wadi

Emirates are a good airline, with flights direct to Dubai, although I think they can be a bit more expensive.

Try using www.moneysupermarket.co.uk or www.kayak.co.uk to search for flights

    Also, try here:

    https://www.netflights.com

They are part of airline-network, who are usually cheap.

Still haven't manage to get Bestat Dubai to respond to any e-mails and I can't phone frpm work. I had one price back from Stylish Resorts and it was coming in at almost £4k, more than £1,500 more than the above! I'm obviously not very good at getting good deals!

We took Charlotte to Dubai when she was 1 and 3 months. We stayed here https://www.jumeirah.com/en/collection/madinat-jumeirah which was brilliant but the Jumeirah Beach (which we have stayed at several times in the past) would have been a better bet for a little one.

We went at the end of Jan and they were experiencing unusually cold weather so most days the pool / beach was a bit chilly (coming from Scotland, this was an understatement!) However, there was enough to see and do to get us through the colder days and we managed to swim when it was warmer.

Can't recommend any specialist agents but we normally contact the hotel and book that and the flights separately - seems to work out cheaper than Expedia, sometimes at least...
