Holiday Recommendations

Crumbalina, 14 May, 2008 at 14:02 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 10

H and I have decided to have a much needed break away about mid September time, but we just don't know where to go.

We'd like to go somewhere that neither of us have been, places we have been to are Tenerife, Lanzarote, Ibiza, Cyprus, New York, Las Vegas.

We'd also ideally like just a private villa with private pool for just the two of us, not too pricey but not too cheap either and preferably 7-10 nights.

Does anyone have any recommendations that they would like to pass on.

TIA

Bermuda is lovely, but not sure about the private villa and pool option.

Lake Como in Italy is gorgeous for something more local but 7-10 days may be a bit too long there.

The South Pacific (Fiji, Bora Bora, Aitutaki) is lovely but pricey....

You seem to like the med, so how about Turkey ?

Friendly locals (mostly) and more bang for your buck than anything in the Eurozone.

We liked Side best. Kalkan is also nice enough but a bit too "Anglo" for our tastes.

I have heard good reports of sardinia, Corsica and Portugla for private villa type hols. Depends on how much £££££ you have to spend, of course ....

How about SE Asia? - Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam - Amazing people, beaches, food, and there is loads of more chilled accommodation rather than massive hotels......

Thanks for all your recs, I'm gonna have a good look round.

I like the idea of Corsica or Sardinia so I'll see what is about.

    Thanks again.

I'd definately recommend Turkey, never been to Kalkan or Side, we tend to go to Icmeler and the locals are wonderful and can't do enough for you. If you find somewhere in the old village it's a real eye opener to see how the turks live!
