Home Learning

soontobemarried, 18 June, 2009 at 10:03 Posted on Planning 0 1

Im looking for some advice about home learning, like the Open University etc. Has anyone dome any home courses?

Are they any good? Some i have looked at give a reccommended time to do them in, say 9 months, at 2 and a half hours studying a week, With me being unemployed, does it matter if i do more hours like that? Do they let you take the exams as soon as you finish studying, or do you have to wait untill a set exam time, such as the 9 months after starting?

Any advice would be good please as they are expensive and i dont want to waste money if they arent as good as they sound?

I can't help you with this, but have you tried emailing them with these questions?

Also, have you got any local colleges where you could do a course? I say this because a friend did an OU course, but joined a college a year after, because she didn't like the learning alone part of it.

Not really got any knowledge of these things but I know with the OU course things are done at a set pace so yes exams will be at a certain time and sometimes they will have taught sessions over a weekend for bits of their course which also means the rate os study is defined some what. ( I only know this because my university used to host OU weekends).

I don't know if this happens for every course though so I have to say I second Ooh la la get in touch with the people running the courses you are interested in and see what tehy say.
