How about buying a chocolate mould off ebay, or shaped ice cube trays (should be about right size, then buy some melting chocolate and pout into trays/mould and stick them in the fridge Smiley smile! you can even buy cake glitter to sprinkle on top or cocoa powder etc.

If you've never made them before then personally I'd suggest not attempting it at this busy/stressful/emotional time.

Could you not just buy some?

Making chocolate from scratch is hard work and v v v expensive, a colleague at work does it. if you really want to do it, Ikea do some nice shaped ice trays so just melt some choccie, maybe marble it for a cheaper option.

I would have no idea about making chocolate. Thornton's sell trays for £25 if that is any help.

If you are making your own chocolate treats it's important to temper (heating and cooling the chocolate to the a right temperature a few times) the chocolate. You can find info on google.

All shop bought chocolate treats have been tempered so they stay good longer and don't melt in your hands when you eat them. Tempering also gives them the shine.

If you've never done it before I would advise you to just buy good quality chocolate treats. (Would save you money as you'll need equipment to make chocolate treats; for example thermometer)

I was going to suggest the same as Natailie.

It would be really easy to do and you could even make them more fancy by buying to different types of chocolate and layering them. For example, use white chocolate first- let it set and then top with milk chocolate and let that set on top of it, creating the 2 layers.

Morrissons do lots of edible decorative bits that you could top them with too! They've got a much bigger range than any other supermarket.

Or..as said already go to Thorntons and buy some ?

Choc truffles are EASY (you buy the chocolate though!)

Dark Choc, cafetiere coffee, honey, some sort of liquer if you like that sort of thing....roll in tiny balls, roll in cocoa powder...fridge (or freezer for ten minutes, then fridge)...jobs a good 'un

Make a big batch of this Nigella stuff, just don't tell anyone the calorie / fat content!

You chill it, so it's easy to do. I used disposable foil trays, and then once it's set you can cut it inot random pieces (if you try and do them too uniformly i think you lose the handmade charm!)

(multiply quantities as you see fit)

    200g milk chocolate
    100g dark chocolate
    125g unsalted butter
    1 x 15ml tbsp golden syrup
    250g salted peanuts
    2 x 80g Crunchie bars*
26cm springform tin which I lined, you can use a rectangle tin or square tin with dimensions similar and indeed Nigella suggests disposable foil tins as an option too.

Get the butter and the golden syrup melting on a low heat in a heavy based pan and break up the chocolates and add that to the golden sludge.

Put the peanuts into medium mixing bowl and break and crumble in the Crunchie bars.

When the chocolate mixture has just melted, pour it over the nuts and honeycomb and stir together.

Pour into prepared tin, and spread out and flatten as much as you can, using a silicon spatula.

Cover and refrigerate for a few hours before cutting into chunks or wedges - depending on your tin of choice.

    Makes about 20 pieces

Whats your theme? (different cutters, hearts etc)

How about shortbread?, these wont melt and you could do different shapes...tempted to do this myself and they can keep, and no choccy stains on people clothes.
