Homemade Wedding Invitations

wiggy_70, 5 September, 2011 at 20:02 Posted on Planning 0 14

Please could someone provide me with some inspiration of how to create my own wedding invitations?!?! Perhaps with rubber stamps etc. I am looking to do this cheapily and completely homemade, so that me and my friends can make them together. Obviously if I have to buy a stamp and some ribbon then fine!

I don't really know my theme yet, but I am considering coastal/couintry garden/natural/beach....

Any suggestions very welcome :-)

Hi, mine are homemade. The Mr&Mrs and initials I designed myself then had them made into rubber stamps. I then embossed them in Gold.

I searched google images...handmade rustic invitations........handmade vintage style wedding invitations, etc until I had an idea what I wanted then searched websites like folksy and found someone who made the style of rubber stamps I wanted, then searched for the card blanks (eco crafts). Watch out though, I think mine are going to cost me more than it would have done to have had them professionally done, but the theme of my wedding is " home made" so I want to do them myself.

    Hi Wiggy

If you are making your invites yourself purely to save money, this was my original plan until a friend suggested a wonderful lady who she used for her stationary and she is fab. She is making my invites for 65p each, which is much cheaper than i have seen anywhere else and she is so helpful, nothing is too much trouble. She has sent me some samples and i am really impressed. Drop me an email if you want her contact details.

Where did you get your rubber stamps made? I too have designed our save the dates and want to create a stamp so that I can make our invitations to match?

    Thanks

I want to handmake my invites too, but I didn't get a stamp specially made - WH Smiths do a stamp that says 'wedding invitation' for a couple of quid and you can buy an ink pad to go with it for a similar amount. Obviously it doesn't look quite as amazing as the bespoke ones but I figure people will open the invite, read it and then not look at it for months, so I'm not paying hundreds for something I can do myself far cheaper.

Plus to save paper, I'm going to have a wedding website with the majority of the information like gift lists and maps online, and just have the basics such as who's invited, when and where with the wedding website address, and that's that!

If you are making your invitations purely for financial reasons, then my range start from 75p each and with that I offer a free bespoke design service with unlimited amendments plus a free sample in your chosen design.

These are the invitations I've made for my sister. Based on 50 cards, they work out at 52p each.
