Honeymoon- day light robbery!!!

LauraJaneRush, 3 June, 2010 at 12:31 Posted on Planning 0 6

Just a little bit of a moan!!

We booked our honeymoon a couple of months ago and i booked it under my maiden name to save me money changing the passport. Anyway, realised I have only got five and a half months left on my passport when I go on honeymoon so have to change it anyway. So rang up company to change my name on the tickets and it cost me 35 for the pleasure...I dont go until end of October so havent got tickets or anything just have to change the name on the computer!

Anyway I know its my fault but considering we're paying such a lot for the holiday, you'd think they would charge but anyway vent over!

lol, no need to reply just havent got anyone here to moan at!

    Its very annoying isnt it!

My OH has to his address for his car insurance and it cost him £50!!

I am unsure what to do about my passport, cause i'd love to travel on my married name, but if i change my passport it means i wont be able to travel until i am married.....which is fine but i am worried im might miss out on possible trips away with friends, my friend works for a travel company and we went to disney for £100 each last November.....i would hate to miss out on something like that!

That is disgraceful - such money making mongers!! On the upside though, it will be nice to travel straight away in your married name ? I booked my honemoon in maiden name too to save hassle of sorting before but sort of wish I had gone to the extra effort now...Also at least your new passport will have your honeymoon stamp on it for the next 10 years too!

The exact thing happened to me as I realised I would only have 4 months left on my passport when honeymoon comes around. Booked honeymoon in maiden name with first choice, we phoned up to change details, like you we haven't recieved tickets so just a change on the computer. However we weren't charged a penny for it!!! don't now why as we were fully expecting to be charged. Who did you book with?

It is annoying when you know all they had to do was delete your old name and replace with new. That doesn't cost £35 to do surely??!!

Same thing happened to me - i booked in maiden name and the had to change it. Apparently the admin cost of £20 was because they had to unbook and then rebook the flight. Very annoying but not much i could do about it - plus i'll have the HM stamp for 10 years Smiley smile

well i knew my passport was expiring in July, and to save any hasle getting a new one in married name, I was just renewing it as was. I have booked the honeymoon on the same name.

I would say you're lucky it was only £35 to change it!

I just couldnt believe how much it cost just to change the name on the computer, surely it can't cost 35pounds?? Obviously then got to pay to renew passport on top which is apporx 80 pounds I think.

We're honeymooning with Virgin, cant fault them for anything else I suppore, when I booked the bloke was fantastic as he changed the package to suit us and then waited till my H2B got home and saved the seats for us,

Just a bit frustrated as I dont know what I am paying for!!

I have to change my name for my holiday too as it was already booked before we got engaged (I only booked it a week before OH proposed). My passport runs out next week so I want the new one in my married name. It was either that or book holidays in my maiden name for the next 10 years. I'm fully expecting to be ripped off to pay for the name change!
