Honeymoon dilemma

MrsB88, 21 August, 2014 at 15:35 Posted on Planning 0 11

So we shall be going on our honemoon the first 2 weeks of september 2015. We originally had decided on mauritius, however now our budget won't allow this. So after a LOT of research I judt cannot decide!! (H2B is leaving it to me) we have played around with the idea of going back to Mexico again, we went a few years ago & just fell in love with the place & the hotel we stayed in. My question is, should't our honeymoon be somewhere new we have never been before? We have always said we would love to go back there.....help please! Sorry for typos, ipad will not let me go back to correct them lol.

I personally would say go somewhere new! There is so much of the world to see, and so many places to go, that it seems a shame to go back to where you've been before. Even if it's Mexico but a different area, in a different hotel.

My Auntie and Uncle honeymooned in Dubrovnik and they had a fab week, I suppose it just depends what sort of honeymoon you want (lazy and relaxing, or lots to do)

    xx

I think a honeymoon should be a special holiday, so if returning to Mexico will be special for you then absolutely go for it! You could go to somewhere new and not like it...

I two think it should be a special holiday, not neccassarily somewhere new! You could maybe add extras on you didn't have last time, we have upgraded our room, all the extra flight bits, airport lounge etc?!

I think it should definitely be somewhere new that you have never been and can explore together, a once in a lifetime trip. We're doing a Californian road trip, San Francisco, LA and Vegas which is our dream trip. We normally go to Cyprus every year and absolutely love it there but what makes it special if you've been there before?? x

Another vote for going somewhere new, you can make new memories and Mexico will always still be there for other holidays

Mauritius would be fab, a shame that you say it is out of your budget (I'm going to Mauritius for my honeymoon, I can't wait)

I think you should go somewhere new

If you enjoyed Mexico then I'd say there's no reason not to go back - at least you know you'll love it, and you'll be able to be more discerning about what you choose to do. I agree as well with the idea of choosing a better room, etc. Also it will bring back the lovely memories of the romantic holiday experience you shared before.

Whatever you choose to do though, I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time! Good luck! Smiley smile

Our honeymoon was in September too.

We wanted to go to Mexico but it's hurricane season in September so we didn't want to chance it for honeymoon. (We would if it was just for a holiday)

We went to Singapore, Borneo and Vietnam in the end.

This. We had an amazing time when we went to Mexico and we contemplated going there for part of our honeymoon but in the end decided to go somewhere different.

We're doing Mexico the first two weeks in September 15! We know it's the tail end of hurricane season but they are super rare and we and others have been that time of year before and never had any issues. Go with your heart! Could you ask for donations to your honeymoon as wedding gifts? Maybe put it on a credit card and pay it off with any pennies you get on/before the day? If that's were you had your heart set on would be such a shame to have to settle for somewhere else
