honeymoon help!!

natsastar, 1 May, 2012 at 13:59 Posted on Planning 0 18

Can anyone help me with ideas for honeymoon? we dont want something too expensive...absolute maximum budget has to be £2,400 altogether. we want something all inclusive if we can for June time of year. not going until 2013 but wanted to have some ideas of where we want to go ASAP so we can book it and then pay off a little at a time... we dont want to be in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do. we would like to be able to go out and come back to the hotel as we please. want to go somewhere hot, preferably, where we can get a tan. Also want something that has a bit of a wow factor as you only do your honeymoon once.

Has anyone been on holiday somewhere they can recommend to us? Any ideas where to go? We could up the budget if we found somewhere we fell in love with...just really struggling to find anything and havent a clue really on where to start!!

all ideas/suggestions very, very greatly appreciated! ?

I personally love cyrpus but it can be expensive so we opted for Turkey for our honeymoon this July, it suits us but isnt always what others would describe as a honeymoon destination, we are taking our children and have booked a 5 star hotel and not for much more than you say you want to pay, good luck whatever you decide xx

How about Egypt? Most of the hotel are all inclusive and quite reasonable for next year (we have been looking for our post wedding holiday, need something to look forward to!) We have been 3 times, weather is hot hot hot, fairly cheap to eat out, buy souvenirs etc and lots of lovely hotels.

Or a cruise? We are doing this for our honeymoon, in June you probably would want a Meditteranean cruise or the canary islands, ours was quite expensive but thats because it is over Christmas, my uncle is going on a canaries one in august and that has cost him about £2500 for 2 weeks.

    Hope you find something nice!!!

Cyprus is beautiful at that time of year and they have gorgeous hotels - a girl i know got marriedin the Elysium in Paphos and its stunning.

How far do you want to travel? you could try the carribbean but you take a chnce with the weather - i dont know anyone who has ever had a problem but it depends if you want to risk it.

Have you thought of somewhere like Cape Verde or Thailand, friends of mine put their honeymoon toegther via expedia (and similar websites) and saved an absolute fortune and stayed in some amazing places.

    Good luck Smiley smile

We've booked all inclusive to Cape Verde, its quite reasonable and there seems to be lots of watersport options to give you stuff to do.

Have you thought about Cuba or the Dominican Republic? We went to Cuba for our honeymoon in June a few years ago, we did 4 nights in Havana and 4 all inclusive in Varadero, so combined sightseeing in the city with being lazy on the beach. It's a great time of year to go to the Caribbean as it's before the main hurricane season.

We've booked to go to Croatia, little island off a town called Porec. We are paying £1350 for two weeks half board this September, so I'm sure you could do it for your budget with AI. Apparently Croatia is very up and coming dont you know?!

Oooh yes Croatia - Croatia is a stunning country, the food is amazing, the locals are friendly...we would have gone back for our honeymoon but wanted to go somewhere with sun in November!

I would suggest looking at Mexico and Cuba.

Cape Verde was gorgeous but there is very little to do there so you have to take some books and just chill out!

Dominican republic is lovely but not as flexible to go off and do things - we were advised to only leave complex accompanied by someone from hotel or people running trips.

We went to Jamaica in June, weather was hot hot hot, few rainy times but you're safe to wander off and it really is a beautiful place with the dunn river falls, dolphin swimming etc. We stayed in ocho rios which was nice and close to attractions. We paid about your budget for 2 weeks all inc in a 4* hotel

Personally I would recommend the Dom Rep or another Carribean island. Excursions aren't any more expensive than other countires, and have a variety covering all budgets. Weathers lovely in June too. Don't believe everything you read about hurricanes/rainy season, etc!

Oh brilliant. thank you all for your suggestions so far. Me and hubby to be are going to be busy on the net again tonight searching all your places you've suggested ?

If anyone else knows of any feel free to add.. we literally just havent got a clue where we want to go which is the problem and havent really travelled much so are quite stuck with knowing where!

If any of you can recommend hotels you've been to previously, etc. that would be really helpful ?

Blue Bay in Dominican is lovely, and around £1000pp all inclusive for 14days.

Any of the five Iberostar hotels in Tunisia (Yasmin Hammamet) are fabulous, well under £1000pp.

The Gran Bahia chain in Mexico also, coming in at around £1300pp - so slightly over.

I was going to suggest croatia or cape verde. croatia is fab and the food is amazing, the views gorgeous and the weather lovely in the summer.

Cape verde might be a bit quiet for you though..

I was just about to ask when you're going, thinking it might have been before me, but just seen your ticker so not for a while yet! We really wanted to go here but the room type we wanted was fully booked up so we're staying at one of their sister hotels now instead!
