Honeymoon ideas

Rosco298, 19 August, 2013 at 16:34 Posted on Planning 0 19

OH and I are trying to decide on a honeymoon. We want to go somewhere neither of us has been before as we would like to experience new things together. THis rules out most of the carribean, Thailand, Mexico and lots of other honeymoon destinations. Our last holidays were to Cuba, India and Seattle.

We would like to be able to do things or visit places but would be happy with a two-center holiday so busy for a week or so and then relaxing for a week. We have been looking at Brazil, Vietnam or Safari (probably Kenya or Tanzania). Does anyome have any suggestions for us? We really can't decide what we want to do. Our last two holidays were dictated by friends weddings and OH chose Cuba for his 30th.

We have a flexible but not endless budget. Ideally I don't want to spend more than £4000 (not including spending money). We get married at the end of Feb and are happy to go then or wait for the perfect holiday.

Thanks all.

    Hi

We want to do the same, go somewhere neither of us have been and also do something different, we are thinking safari and then maldives or caribean.

What about going to Australia / New Zealand? Do some wine tasting, scuba diving? Fiji looks stunning or Bali?

You could do something completely different and go to Nepal and climb a mountain and then on your way home hit a beach somewhere. Or Dubai - Dubai is one of my favourite places in the world as you always feel spoilt, you can do dune bashing, go for beautiful dinners, ski indoors, LOADS

    Hi,

Honeymoon planning is so exciting? and wow you have been to all the places I would like to go to!

We are going for 6 weeks (yay!) and going to Panama, Peru and Bolivia, we have a week relaxing on a island off Panama, then the rest of the time exploring and doing the Inca Trail.

Central / South America is pretty reasonable to fly to and really cheap when you are there.

    Happy planning x

We are doing multi center Borneo= Kota Kinabalu, Sandokan and Vietnam = Hanoi, Halong Bay and Danang and finally 8 hours in Singapore. Not the easiest places to twin due to poor connecting flights but we have visited most other places in Asia and they were the next 2 on our list. So would not recommend twinning the 2 for anyone else.

Thanks for the ideas. I think Vietnam or Safari are winning so far. Funky I wouldn't twin Vietnam with somewhere but I'd like to see more than one place within the country. Maybe a twin centre didn't explain it very well. I would like to see Hoi An, Hanoi etc. I think I'll have to just keep going with my research or pop to a travel agent. It's just too hard to pick there are so many places I want to go.

i've done Australia and Vegas so they're out as we want to go somewhere new. I've been to Singapore also, it was lovely but very different to the rest of Asia.

We had an incredible holiday to Bali and Lombok - I would definitely recommend them both if you haven't been. I would love to got to Vietnam. We're looking at (but haven't booked yet) Malaysia going to a few different places but haven't planned it all out yet.

I went to Kenya earlier a few months ago with work. We got to go out on safari while I was there and it was fantastic! I hadn't been on one before but we got to see everything we hoped to apart from elephants, and there weren't any of those in the particular parks that we visited. I have no experience of the Kenyan beach resorts though as we stayed in Nairobi the rest of the time.

How about San Fran (or somewhere else on the west coast) and Hawaii?

Planning your honeymoon should be exciting and stress free. Of course, in planning a honeymoon, you should consider first the budget. Then list all the ideas for possible destinations, consult a travel agent, search guidebooks, brochures and magazines. There are tons of circumstances that could cause you to cancel your trip thus travel insurance provides protection for your travel investment in case an unfortunate situation arises.

I was lucky enough to live in Kenya for a few years when I was younger, and would've loved to go back for my honeymoon - but we decided to do the same as you and go somewhere neither of us had been! Safari would be amazing - you can go somewhere like the Maasai Mara and stay in some really nice camps, and then go to the coast (Malindi is probably better than Mombasa) where you can stay in some gorgeous hotels! Tanzania's similar - go to a camp in the serengeti and then could maybe go to Zanzibar for a bit of relaxation?

Hi Rosco! We're doing Kenya - safari for three nights; then on to Rwanda to trek to see the mountain gorillas - then back to Kenya for the beach for a few days!

Rwanda is a bit of a random place if you like adventures Smiley winking x

Thank you all. I think I am feeling the safari with a few days at the beach after. I love the far east but as OH got to go away for his 30th it's only fair I do too. So i thought we could have the blow-out safari honeymoon then go to the far east for my 30th which is May 2015 so not too far away really. Especially once the wedding is over! Now to convince the OH.

Really depends on the time of year but Tanzania + Zanzibar if you want beach time - as far as safari goes - if you do the Southern Circuit then Selous and Ruaha (lived there for 2 years and ex is from there). Or Cape Town then into Namibia or Botswana, um....... Oman (much less plastic than Dubai) then Seychelles/Maldives, Malawi........Mozambique.......Japan..........

    Hi stranger, how's things??

I'd agree with you (of course) re Tanzania and Zanzibar. We had an amazing time with a luxury villa on Zanzibar then a private safari at Sand Rivers in the Selous.

Hi, I am getting married September 2014 - haven't booked honeymoon yet but have decided on Singapore and Bali. We too wanted somewhere neither of us had been before and also a city and the relaxing beach. We got a quote of £4050 for 4 nights in Singapore staying in a 3* hotel room only as figure we won't really be spending any time in the hotel. Then moving on to Bali for 7 nights staying in a 5* resort all inclusive, adults only. I know you mentioned you want to go for 2 weeks so would probably be a bit more than this but hope this gives you an idea. Becki x

Barefoot - hello there. Not really on here much anymore too depressing. Moved to Dubai in December, OH meant to come over but found out he'd cheated on me with his ex and they had a kid together - something he conveniently forgot to tell me before we got married.

Sorry the rest of you, keep planning and I'm keeping everything crossed that you will all live happily ever after.
