    When are you going?

I can't help on the hotel, as I went with friends, and our hotel was in a great location, but pretty budget.

This company do some great packages https://www.francetourisme.fr/uk/ - we did one that was dinner at the Eiffel Tower (set meal), river trip down the Seine, and then a show at Le Lido. When you work out what it would have cost as separates, it was a bargain. And it's less to organise ?

We also did a lot of walking on the Saturday, from the hotel to Place de la Concorde, a long walk along the Seine, breakfast, then over the Ile de Cite (we missed out Notre Dame, but went passed the Chatelet), down Boulevard St. Michael, into the Musee de Moyan Age, Lunch (at an art deco cafe) called Les relais Odeon, and then Musee d'Orsay. And then rushed back to change for the package in the evening. We were exhausted, but had a fab time. On Sunday we just mooched around, and found that the foodie shops were all closed, and popped into the Louvre first thing. Museums are free on the first Sunday of the month.

Oooh we just got back from a honeymoon in Paris, which we loved!

We stayed in Vincennes near the chateau in a cheapy (but nice!) hotel so we could splash out on trips/meals etc. We got a fab deal through last minute.com which came to £560 for the pair of us.

Disneyland was fab, but my favourite trip was to the catacombs - so creepy!

I think we did all the usual touristy places and in the evenings we got the Metro to St Michel near Notre Dame as they have a nice mix of pubs/restaurants etc. They also have the fab Shakespeare and Co bookshop which I have fallen inlove with!

    Hi

It was a while ago now (2002) but we had our honeymoon in Paris - 2 nights at the Terrass hotel in Montmartre, then five nights at Disney, then a week in a more central and more mid-budget hotel (the Select, at the Sorbonne). We were upgraded to a suite at the Terrass, it was fab.

Have a look at those (sorry, no links, but easy to google) and also I recently booked a nice hotel, albeit only a one-nighter as we pass through, on www.heart-of-paris-hotels.com

(sorry, I have no idea how to insert a text link on this new board)

We did all the 'usual' touristy stuff, and a LOT of walking! Depends how long you have, and what your interests are. a week was definitely long enough to do most of it (the first two days we barely left the hotel...!) although we had to rather skip over a lot of the Louvre and the Orsay.

We like the boat trip (Vedettes de Paris at pont neuf) but did NOT like the evening dinner cruise...appalling value, horrible food, like a butlins canteen afloat. We couldnt' afford the moulin rouge but it did look fun - evening dinner show.

I second the recommendation to eat around the St Michel/5e or 6e district - lots of little windy streets, good restaurants. The Terrass has a good restaurant apparently with a fabulous view in fact I think the original Hitched-in-Paris had part of her wedding reception here (?).

Re Disney - we go every year. Just counting down to our ninth trip, so if you have any questions about that bit, I can definitely help - PM me though, I'm here so little now.

    HTH
    Liz

We stayed in a "newly refurbished boutique" hotel that was five minutes from the Champs Elysses and the Arc De Triomph. It was fantastic for the tube too as it was just down the street, but I just can't remember the name off the top of my head. We booked through last minute.com though and it showed a good selection of hotels. I think it was meant to be 300E a night, but we got it for £100.

We've just returned from 4 nights in Paris celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary. We stayed here http://www.my-paris-hotel.com/en/s03_hotels/s03p01_accueilhotel.php?id=1 the room was great. We were a 5 minute walk from the Arc de Triomphe (sp?), the metro was very easy to use. We didn't go to Eurodisney as much as I would have loved to. We generally ate in the area around our hotel at night as H was keen on trying the local foods.

We did the Eiffel Tower at night, the queues were still manic, but not has bad as during the day. It was such a nice view and the weather stayed quite good.

We paid around £300 for the hotel, we didn't eat breakfast there. I sent H to the local bakery for crossiant and choc au pain.

Oh thanks for all the replys, we are going on the monday after valentines day (we are getting married then), only going for four nights, my plan was to mooch round paris for the first two days, then off to DLP for the last two, would people reccommend staying in a hotel near DLP for the last two nights rather than travelling back and forth form DLP, I have been on trip advisor for advice, people seem very negative about going to DLP, but my fella and I have been dying to go for years, one person said one day was enough? I thought you would need two days to see it all in DLP?

Sorry for so many questions, but its hard trying to plan as a suprise, and I want it to be perfect!!?

Not stayed at DLP, but I found it quite enough after one day TBH. Unless you are really into the parades and stuff you can probably get on the rides you want to go on in a day. I would definatley see if you can get a deal on the Early Bird Pass that lets you in an hour earlier than the rest of the public as you can go on the major rides then with minimal queueing.

I got dragged round it for 12 hours and had had quite enough by then!

We spent a week there about 2 years ago, we stayed in the Normandy Hotel, which is just across the road from the Louvre in the first arondissment (sp). We got a really good deal via Expedia. It was a great base for walking and also for the Metro

Try and avoid staying out at disney. We did that for our honeymoon in october last year. It was whilst the rugby was on so hotels in the centre of paris were really expensive so we thought we'd stay at disney and have a couple of days there and then go on the train to places in Paris. We only got to do two days away from disney becuase of the train strikes and I am never going back to Paris ever again. I know there cause was more important but I can't help but be a little miffed.
