Honeymoon Quote

Knees, 11 May, 2011 at 13:50 Posted on Planning 0 20

A few days ago, I posted asking for suggestions as to how to arrange our unusual wedding/honeymoon, in that we're getting married in Australia and then honeymooning on the way back.

A while ago, I ordered a brochure from a travel company that specialises in Australian trips, more to find out ideas for stop offs. One of their agents phoned me yesterday to see if she could help so I gave her our dates/locations and she phoned me back today with a quote. It's obviously a big trip and I'm expecting it to be expensive, but I'm not sure whether this quote is good or not - can you let me know your views?

Flights from UK to Sydney - no accommodation in Sydney as we will sort this ourselves

Flights from Sydney to Fiji with 5 nights' accommodation in one of their higher rated resorts, plus transfers (including some kind of launch to an island!)

Flights from Fiji to San Fransisco with 2 nights' accommodation in a 3.5* hotel plus transfers and taxes (I understand that you have to pay a nightly tax in the US)

Flights from San Fran to Las Vegas with 4 nights' accommodation in a 5* hotel plus breakfast and taxes

Flights home

Comes in at around £3,900 per person.

I will shop around for other quotes but what do you think?

ETA - I'd always planned on booking everything ourselves as I thought it'd be cheaper, but I'm now coming round to the idea of getting a travel company to sort it all for me. Plus they offer a discount if our guests want to book any part of their trip through them.

Sounds good to me as just flights to N Y C are costing me and my OH £1500 (for both) this summer. I'd look at other quotes, but it looks good, especially with the guest discount

Hi Bates2Be - Who was the travel company if you don't mind me asking?

Last year, H2B and I went from Manc - Heathrow - Hong Kong (3 nights), Sydney, (3 nights), Hamilton Island (3 nights), Brisbane (3 nights), Singapore (3 nights) - then back to London - Manc.

It was nowhere near this price you've quoted! The company were fantastic. All our hotel vouchers came with our tickets, detailing info on. Would recommend then. x

Let me know if they do work out cheaper - although I'm not sure if they can include transfers? We did them ourselves xx

Yep they were! She'd looked at a slightly cheaper hotel in Las Vegas than the one we were quoted with the other company, but Vegas hotels look pretty reasonable anyway. Came out at £5,732 for both of us. Transfers were included in Fiji, but not in the US, because she said it usually works out cheaper for you to just get a bus!

I think thats a good price!

We are honeymooning in Oz in December and paying £1250 just four our flights and 3 nights in Hong Kong.

We have used Trailfinders who have been fantastic and we have set up a honeymoon gift list with them

Ive been to Australia 3 times and have always booked my flights with Trailfinders, their prices are as good as anywhere else and the option to pay a deposit and then pay off bit by bit is much easier when the flights are usually so high!

They sent us printed info cards about our gift list to send with our invites and everyone has commented on how easy its been to go online and make a contribution Smiley smile

We fly out to Sydney on Boxing Day and will spend NYE in Sydney with some friends we have there, then we are not too sure.... we went 18 months ago (got engaged out there on sydey harbour bridge climb haha) and did the east cost... We may do Melbourne and then Whitsunday Islands, no set plan yet as will depend on funds after the wedding Smiley smile

We are going for 4 weeks and on the way back stopping in Hong Kong for 3 nights staying at Harbour Grand Kowloon, my uncle lives in HK so he will no doubt take us out and about Smiley smile

Thanks for the tips both, I like the idea of being able to set up a gift list with them too. Just looked at their brochure online and I think we might want to upgrade the accommodation options but it's still going to end up cheaper than the other company.

Wish I had as little time to go as you both!

@ Bates2Be - A lot of hotel offer free upgrades to honeymoon couples. Our Hong Kong hotel was upgraded to a superior harbour view free of charge!

@LakeGardaBride - We did Sydney, Brisbane, Sufers, Cairns, Port Douglas when we went last time, it was amazing. We really went all out, did the bridge climb, dived great barrier reef and did a helicopter flight over the ref too! Though in relaity we should have waited cos at this rate we will be "back-packing" our honeymoon haha!!

Belinda - did you ask for the upgrades (with Trailfinders or on arrival at the hotel) or were you given them? I phoned the honeymoon line at Trailfinders, so they are well aware it's our honeymoon!

Harbour Bridge looks fab! I'd be too scared!

If you have a look in the brochure, I think to the left of each property there are little price breakdowns for supplements and stuff, and then it usually says there if they offer honeymoon upgrades. If they dont then def worth a mention anyway
