Honeymooning with the bambinos.............

HillierB2B, 31 May, 2009 at 19:05 Posted on Planning 0 11

Evening ladies,

Mr Hillier & I have been having a little discussion in regards to our honeymoon. As you may or may not know we have 2 bambinos (who will be 2yrs & 3yrs old when we get married) ? ?

We both would LOVE to take them with us but part of us would like some 'us' time alone without them, Does that sound horrible?? Mr Hillier wants us to go someplace exotic & tranquil where as if we take the babies we would need to find somewhere with activities etc.

Are any of you taking your precious cargo with you or do you have other plans?? I would just feel so bad for leaving them behind ? & that i wont be able to relax & enjoy myself.

Whats you opinions ladies xx

Would it be possible to get a friend/ parent or someone to come with you and look after and entertain your children when you're having some 'us' time? Just an idea.. not sure if it would work. If not, how about somewhere closer to home for just you two... a mini moon and then a bigger break somewhere child friendly?

A friend of mine got married 3 weeks ago and they have a 2yr old son, they went on honeymoon to Spain and left their wee one with family, missed him like mad but glad they had that time alone to themselves...they couldn't of gone any longer, they said that would of been too much of a strain for them.

    Would this be an option?

Hi our son will be nearly 2 when we get married and we are going to turkey for 2 weeks. The 1st week we are going ourselves and the 2nd week my 2 sisters are flying out with our son and we are just turning it into a little family hol ? We took into consideration that my sisters would be coming too when we were looking at costs and hourney time on the plane too as Kaleb is still young. Hope this helps x

Maybe you could look at going on 2 holidays. Maybe a minimoon somewhere nice just you and Mr Hillier, or a week away just the 2 of you, and then a week with the little ones when you get back. Doesnt have to be anywhere too fancy, maybe a few days at center parcs, that way you get to chill out and have family time with plenty for the kids to do.

We have hired a villa in Florida (Orlando) for 3 weeks, the first week it will be me, h2b and my son, he will be seven. For the last two weeks my parents are flying over and they will be on babysitting duty ! H2B and me are hoping to head down to the keys or to the coast for a few days for alone time ?

I think we are getting best of both worlds really, I really wouldn't like to spend two weeks away from my son, I wouldn't relax as I would miss him to much, so turning it into a family holiday is ideal for us.

    Good luck on deciding !

My children will are 13 & 6 and will be when we get married. But my Mum & Dad are taking them off on there own Special holdiay while we go on honeymoon.I know this is not an ideal situation but for us it works - I will miss them both terrabley but they have been on shorter holdiays with them before without us and know not only will we benifit but they will to as they get to spend some time with there Grandparents.

But back to subject have you looked at the First choice Holiday Villages - we have stayed at the turkey one before but were going to to the dominican republic if we were taking the children - they have kids stuff all day long with babysitting ect.

We're off to the Dominican Republic on the 15th June and taking our 2yr old daughter with us.

We couldn't leave her for 2 weeks, I know I'd miss her desperately and would just be miserable!! H2b is the same......

I work 32+hours a week and h2b works full time, so time together is very precious.

We are planning to have a long weekend away later in the year just the two of us.

thanks girls for all you advice! we have stole a few ideas from you all hehe. think we will go along the lines of what kellie is doing - going away for a week then having family bring the kids out for the 2nd week.

also vikki - thanks for your suggestion on the holiday villages, lewis really likes that idea as it will keep the kids entertained so once he comes back home (15th June) we are all going to pop down to local travel agent for more info & prices.

thanks again you are all top notch as per usual lol xx
