I thought it was age and Dr shoes thought it was size

Size - pony is up to 14 hands, horse is 15 hands or over. I think - it's a long time since I was at pony club and had all of this stuff at my fingertips ?

    Size mainly...<14.2 = pony.

Certain characteristics also apply in some cases of deciding which is which.

    Over 14.2h = horse

    1 hand = 4 inches
