Hotel Recommendations in Venice.

Puss, 19 August, 2008 at 16:56 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 10

Mr P and I have a long weekend (4 nights) to use in Venice and we have approx £800 to spend on the hotel. Does anyone have any great recommendations for that price bracket? First weekend away without children since they were born (that would be nearly 3 years then...) so would like something reasonably special.

Thanks.

The San clemente is imo streaks ahead of any other hotel I've stayed in in venice, but I think you'd need about £1k for 4 nights (although the hugest breakfast in the world is included in most room rates). Ebookers and venere.com usually have good deals. If that's outwith your bidget, give me a shout and I'll tell you about some other options.

Thanks for that, it sadly is a bit over budget (I have looked on Ebookers but will check the other one). I have £1500 to spend in total, We can fly into Venice via Easyjet for about £130, I figure £70 aside for transfers, just to be on the safe side although I will look more into how much it costs, and then £500 spendies for food and other stuff.

Really friendly host, great central but quiet location. Nice rooms, by Italian hotel standards too

I don't know what dates you are going so not sure if this fits in your budget...

It is where I organised my dad and his wife's blessing and it is lovely with an increadible garden and private transfer to piaza san marco etc.

We stayed at the Hotel Antiche Figure and it was wonderful

Right on the Grand Canal, but at the top end opposite the railway station and a bridge

My mum and I stayed here a few years back, the Hotel Corte Contarina:

    /=

Was very nice, comfortable room at the top of the building (several flights of stairs mind!) with views across the roof tops. Its on the Via Garibaldi, which is in one of the real venezian quarters, which was lovely.

Oh and as for transfers, unless you want a private transfers, it won't cost anywhere near as much as £70. You can either get the bus or the waterbus. However, they obviously don't take you straight to your hotel.
