House movers... how are you all doing?

HaloHoney, 17 August, 2009 at 22:55 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 20

The update on our situation is that our offer has been retracted. Their buyer said she would pull out if she couldn't complete by 4th September. So they felt unable to put us through that pressure and have said that should our property remain unsold on Sep 4th (just over 2 weeks away) then they will re-offer.

We went and saw the house we've been looking at again this evening. The lady who owns it (it's a probate sale, was her mother's house) was really friendly and was good to find out some more about the place.

I took a load of photos today which are here - we've decided we'd like to make an offer.

Would we be mentalists to ask our agents to call the people who put the offer (and retracted it) on ours and ask them if they would re-offer if we can move out in 8 weeks? They are planning on moving into rented accommodation, and that way could rent short-term and be in the house sooner rather than later.

Plan B - we wait for another offer on our place, and potentially lose the place above.

Gahhhhhhhhhh.

Ahh HH it gets ever so complicated sometimes doesnt it? Hope it sorts it self out for you.

My friend sold her house on Friday and had an offer accepted on one they love yesterday so thats good news for her, my other friend who is renting has just had an offer accepted on a gawjus countryside pad and Im still flippin stuck where I am. Our buyers have pulled out as they have split up as a couple.

So we went to view a new build on the weekend with a view to part ex our place, theyve instructed two EAs to come and value our house so the builders can make us an offer. The two EAs that have been instructed are our EA that its on the market with and the EA we sacked, so we shall see what happens. Should find out by the end of the week.

Nonie Im with you all the way, we can be cheesed off with house moving buddies if you like!

its over 9 months now and we have had 6 viewings, the worst thing is though that where we want to move to is selling like hotcakes and almost everything we have viewed ovetr the last 8 months has sold quite quickly. I think our house isnt budging as its a rural location, a huge family house and not first time buyer territory so we have to find a buyer that wants the rural lifestyle, has loads of kids and has to sell something else to buy our place. Its pants and I know exactly how you feel regarding other peoples posts when they say theyve sold within a few weeks, its disheartening.

But keep pozzy, we will get there.?

    ? welshtotty and Nonie

I'm sorry you're both having such a frustrating time.

Halohoney, I don't think it'll be long before another offer is forthcoming on yours. Frustrating that they've pulled out though.

I'm still waiting to hear if the offer we've accepted is going to go anywhere; second viewing (post offer) seemed to go well and I'm happy that I didn't hear from the HA yesterday that they were either pulling out or wanted to drop the offer again... we'll see. I'm starting to get super stressed about where we're moving to as well, which isn't helping. I don't know if I want us to sell our house quickly or not, given the weapons grade arse ache that moving/building is going to be, and all with a tiny baby. Sigh.

If you really like that house and have the funds to do it up and it's really what you want then you should def get the buyers to re-offer, you could wait ages for another potential buyer.

We've had one viewing and another one booked for this weekend - do all agents love to look at houses on saturdays? Don't they view in the week anymore?

We're viewing a house tonight, should have viewed last night but it got cancelled. Not sure it's wise to view it really incase I love it. We haven't seen anything we like so far and this place is priced to sell as it's a part ex and they need a sale within 20 days so even if we loved it we are in no position to offer - are we?

I take everything back I said last week - I'm already sick of tidying the house every day just incase we get a viewing and if we continue getting viewings from people who are not on the market I will be limiting viewings IYSWIM

It's worth making an offer but only if you've sold yours. The new houses we like were on at £220k but one sold for £199k in December. Unfortunately they've put the prices up £12k so the chances of us getting one for under £200k are slim to none. Our mortgage advisor told us that if you're proceedable and make an offer then you're more likely to get the house.

Why does it seem that every house we like (and there aren't many out there) is the same house that about 50 other people like and all of them are in a better position than us to get it? I can see me getting tired of this house selling melarky really quickly.

I can imagine that being very stressful too, not ideal. The only thing to come out of us deciding to put our house on the market is that we realise we really do want to get out of our house. I'm actually quite willing to sell ours and move in with my parents whilst we wait for something that we like to come on the market but H isn't. It's a gamble though cause we could be stuck with my parents for the next 10 years ?

I'm actually thinking it's better not even looking at houses until ours has at least had an offer - what's the point if we can't offer on them? It's just too disheartening. I've just cancelled the viewing for tonight for that reason.

Just a quick update from me. We go to sign for the new house tomorrow morning. Dad goes to sign to buy our house tomorrow lunch time and we have a moving date for Friday. Can't wait to get in and rip the kitchen and lounge apart.

This is the house that we're buying.

Wow, it's amazing how much prices vary in different areas isn't it? Chids that's a great house, lots of off road parking which is what we would dearly love. You wouldn't get that house round here for less than about £165K

It is a pretty good price for around here too, prices for that type of house are anywhere between £100-£120k so we think we're getting a good deal. It's in the area that we wanted, i can walk to work in about 20 minutes. Good schools for if we ever have children, and not far from our families. I can't wait to move in.

Would be over £300k around here ?. I'm constanly amazed at how much you can get for your money 'oop North'.

The market's really good at the moment here in outer West London so selling our place wouldn't be a problem and H wants to move. I just can't face the hassle and I don't think we can afford to move to somewhere that's worth moving to (if that makes sense).

It'd be closer to £500k here ?. How anyone other than City traders are supposed to afford houses round herer I shall never know. We're desperate to move out of our 2 bed flat - now we have a mobile baby it's way,. way, way too small - but it's never going to happen till we can move out of London. And of course there's the small matter that the place we're selling (H's old bachelor pad in Bristol) has been on the market for a year and hasn't shifted...
