House Movers - viewing for a 4th time?!

HaloHoney, 14 August, 2009 at 01:28 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 6

I've got someone coming at 10am for a *4th* viewing.

Please can I have some "sh!t, or get off the pot" vibes in her direction? ?

Seriously... 4 viewings? Aaaagghhh

And then there is one at 1.30 tomorrow, followed by 3 on Saturday.

Am I wrong in writing up all of the list of viewings on a chalk board in my kitchen to try and make her nervous about lots of other people seeing it? ?

4th? ? What on earth does she hope to gain from that? Jeez. I'd certainly tell her that you have a number of other interested parties visiting over the weekend - in a sort of pretendy-concerned "hate you to miss out" type way ?

I'd be direct about it rather than resorting to the chalkboard!

We've got someone coming for a second viewing on Saturday, and we've already accepted an offer from them! So I'm more and more convinced that they're going to try to beat us back down to their original offer by finding fault. I'm quite tempted to bite the bullet with them and make sure that they know we can't drop any more money than we've agreed to before they come around, because I'd hate to spend all the time and effort of showhoming the house up if they're just going to play sillly buggers with the price.

Frustrating that this is the second time in two weeks we've "sold" the house, only to have problems crop up afterwards. Gaaaaah!

HH: that's madness! Why does anyone need so many viewings? Fingers crossed for you!

PL: try not to worry too much. They might just be natural fretters and want to take a confirmatory (sp?) view of the house before they proceed. Which doesn't mean they want to pull out but they just want to reassure themselves. I think I've done that in the past and had no intention of pulling out or reducing my offer, I just wanted to reassure myself that the house I'd fallen in love with was just as I remembered it.

A 4th viewing?! That would be severely testing my patience (the lack of which is legendary!) but I don't see what else you can do other than say yes? What did she do on the second and third ones?! Definitely tell her that you have other viewings lined up over the next few days so if she'd like to come to a decision it might be better to do that sooner rather than later.

The only news I've got is our For Sale sign was changed to a Sold sign yesterday after three weeks of hassling the agent. I was getting mightily fed up of all the drive-bys and people staring in the window. And then, to top it off, this cheeky fecking double-glazing salesman knocked on my door yesterday to suggest that if I bought windows from him, it might mean I sold my house!! ?

I sometimes find it a bit bizarre that people buy houses after just one viewing tbh. Its a massive purchase, and when I think of the effort I put into new shoes, I wouldn't hesitate in asking for a couple of viewings, especially if I was serious about actually buying the place.

In saying that, it must be unbelievable frustrating for you, and I would hate to have to live in a showhome for any length of time.

Lots of positive vives your way....

A 4th viewing is crazy - are you sure she's not casing the joint. I have only been to see the house that we're buying with H once.

I would have loved a second visit but it was hard work just getting one - tennants in the house, only viewings were on a saturday between 11.30 and 12.30...basically we didn't want it dragging on and we were worried about other people seeing the house the week after...

I have been back a few times to nose around the outside though
