We've had no problem selling - there's a real shortage of properties coming on the market so they get snapped up, but this means it's really, really hard to find somewhere to buy. There seems to be something of a property bubble in the bits of Bristol we want to move to which is a PITA. Places are going for ridiculous prices because of it.

    Good luck HH! how exciting.

hazel, I really really feel for you. we were so lucky to pick up our new house when we did - we wouldn't be able to afford it now.

as for us, we handed in notice on our flat last week and today they've started all the undercoating / woodwork so a couple more weeks and we should be able to start te moving process. hoping for a week or so overlap, but we'll see - everything in this game takes longer than you think it will, I have found.

    That's what we're finding.

We have found somewhere which has been on the market a looong time because it needs a lot of work doing - but is excellent in terms of potential. It's still on the market now and is in little danger of moving.

I'm trying to be 'zen' about the whole thing and view it as a sign that if it is meant to be then it will still be there when we find a buyer for ours, which will hopefully not be long.

Foxy that's exciting! Can't wait to see the transformation.

We've accepted that me might have to move into rented for a bit, though that's a bit scary in case the market really takes off (though I think it's unlikely)

How exciting HH - hope you find a buyer soon!

We finally found a buyer a couple of months ago after being on the market for over a year. Things are moving frustratingly slowly though - solicitors/conveyancers don't seem to have joined the digital age and still think everything, even interim updates, must be sent in hard copy only, and then only when you prompt them!

Our buyer is a 1st timer with a big deposit and she's ready to go. We're not buying again, just going to rent for a while until we decide where we want to be for the next 10 years (and how to get there!). We're both sort of stuck in London-centric jobs and not sure how to square that with not being able to buy a decent house in a decent area of London, but that's another story...

We're moving into our rental house in 3.5 wks and hoping to complete our sale around the same time. Excited but nervous, it's not perfect but in a fantastic area & we're really looking forward to having a bit more space.

    Good luck!

    Can i join please!

we got our flat valued on saturday and were really pleased with the valuation so we are hoping to go to market next week!

estate agent fees are robbery though arnt they - the spectrum of prices we were quoted was unreal!

There is a real shortage of places where we live too, i dont think we will have much trouble selling but i do thinkk we are going to have trouble trying to find somewhere!

Ours went on the market yesterday, board went up today and our first viewing took place at 3pm! Not bad going - I'll ring the agent tomorrow and see if there's any feedback.

Our next door neighbours viewed it at the end of last week - they're renting - and they did make us an offer but at £13K under the asking price, there was no way we were going to accept it. They want to add a kitchen extension, like the one they have next door, and basically deducted the cost of the build off our asking price. Sorry! Doesn't work like that! Ours is worth the asking price as it stands! ?

Don't be too scared HH. Just spend the week getting as organised as you can - mega declutter, clean like you've never cleaned before and dot a few vases of flowers around! Our house should be on the agent's website this evening so I'll post the link if you want a snout about? I'd be interested in what Hitchers think of it and whether, theoretically, anybody would think it was worth an offer?

Positive vibes to all kleek members. Let's hope as the summer unfolds, we all get the offers/moves we want!

Pah! nearly 9 months on the market now and bugger all. Had a viewing last week where they thought the bathroom was in the wrong place and they were disappointed there was no parking.... theres an 18 space carpark the other side of the back gate! Doh!

Rant over, I suppose that's what we get for living in the sticks, we need someone who also wants to live in the sticks, roll on our buyers selling their house then we can get the ball rolling.

Good luck and I hope you get a quick sale, unlike us.

We bought back in May, and are renovating ourselves *geeky shows knowing 'I can retile a roof face*

It is sloooooow, and to make matters a bit worse, we are with the ILs while its happening. They are lovely and welcoming and helpful but I really want to live in my own house soon.

We go away at the end of August and hope to move in when we come back in september. Hurrah!

Vibes to all who need 'em

You decided against that house then? I was wondering what you'd decided.

    Nothing else about?

I'd buy that house tomorrow but J is unconvinced. Even though all his concerns can be dealt with (the alleyway is being gated anyway in the next few weeks, local policeman says it's fine, pub is fine) he keeps finding reasons so clearly there's just something that doesn't work for him. Which is annoying because it's still on the market and we'd get it for a snip ?

There's one in Westbury Park that we made a cheeky offer on that has been rejected but where there's still a chance of it working out. We could buy it now if we choose to stretch ourselves - it could be a forever house - but I'm wary of doing that for many reasons.
