Houses - good and bad things

Apropos of nothing, honest ? What features would put you off a house? What do you really like? I don't like: kitchens open to the living rooms, brown UPVC window frames, small attic rooms that push the price up while being functionally useless, "old" gas fires, "some" feature wallpaper. I don't like: kitchens open to the living rooms, brown UPVC window frames, small attic rooms that push the price up while being functionally useless, "old" gas fires, "some" feature wallpaper.

I do like: wet room style bathrooms (especially ensuite!), at least two downstairs living areas, sunny gardens, chimney breasts and alcoves.

    Features I like;

    Spacious and light (i.e. large rooms and windows not decor)

    Drive/2 car garage

    Separate utility room

    Space to eat in the kitchen but a separate dining room

    Large back garden

    En-suite

    downstairs loo

    Things I don't like;

    Bright shiney fitted kitchens that will be out of date in a year or two

    Artex and woodchip - yes it can be changed but it's a PITA

    Lack of storage space

    Dingy rooms

    We have been to see a property which was described as having "two double bedrooms". When we went to see it one was indeed a double (albeit slightly cramped) but the other had a SINGLE bed in it plus a wardrobe and just enough room to walk past the bed to the wardrobe. I had to say something and the EA just said "well I've sold and let plenty of flats in this block and I assure you you could fit a double in there... not much else admittedly". NOTHING else I think he must have meant. It would quite literally have taken up all the floorspace (door opened outward). I was flabbergasted. I wish the listing was still on Rightmove so I could show you the photo with the single bed in it.

    We've just moved house, so we got most of our "wants" and "likes".

    Like: Off-road parking / garage, hallway, biggish kitchen (ie one which is big enough for two adults to stand in without getting in each others way), reasonable sized front & back garden (ie not the size of a postage stamp), dining room.

    Dislike: Kitchen / dining room combos, Open plan houses, front doors opening directly into the living room, noisy / inconsiderate neighbours.

    I'm a sucker for new builds. Even though most iv seen are not half as sturdy as an old building, I love how clean they feel.
